Hotel very comfortable. Friendly stuff. Everything clean. Good food and breakfast. Transfer from/to Airport well organized. Great views to Icefjord from rooms. Beware of the Igloo. They need some renovation. Not worth the price.

Hello from Greenland. Yes, it is the other end of the Earth! But, if you get a chance, dear reader, do not forego a trip. Yes, it is a remove to 'wild west'. At affordable prices, the facilities are pretty basic. And, affordable prices - aren't for the faint hearted, or the impecuniary! But, the sheer size of the glaciers, the age of the ice they comprise, the sound of the ice cracking, the visceral resonance of the resulting avalanche, and the vibration through the earth as ...

Today we are awoken by the crunching of ice floes on the hull of the ship. We were planning to dock in Llulissat and then take small boat to the largest glacier ( Jacobshaven ) in the northern hemisphere but unfortunately fog has prevented us from docking . Whilst is is disappointing we must accept that this won't be the last time we are unable to do what is planned. As has been pointed out this is an ...

The night without darkness -- at least none that we noticed. Fairly adequate curtains plus sleep masks did the trick but whenever I woke briefly and peeked out, there was light.

Our midnight iceberg cruise (not on one but among them), is now no longer at 2 PM. Iceland Unlimited fixed the booking. Breakfast was all you could want - bacon, sausage, eggs, french toast, cereal and the list goes on. Did I mention coffee? Nope, well it was much good and superior to the stuff we had ...

... to babies. My guess is the mosquitos will sneer at it. Give me some industrial strength DEET. Our anti-mozzie plan was long pants, long sleeved shirts, a mosquito net hat for the face and neck leaving only the hands to deal with. Worst case, I have gloves for those. The assumption that it would be chilly enough to make such "hazmat" gear comfortable may prove wrong given the 12°C temp. The temperature is lovely as I get off the ...
