Samo rovaniemi nie powala na kolana. Wiecej w ...
We started heading back down the coast through Finland. The scenery was very different to that in Norway and was much flatter. There really wasn't much up in this area just lots of trees around. In the afternoon we reached Rovaniemi which is the home of Santa and is also is where we crossed the Arctic Circle line again. I was looking forward to the home of ...
Rovaniemi, Finland amatsinrake... i'll be good!! I arrived in Rovaniemi very refreshed after spending the night in a sleeper carriage for the long 14 hours train journey from Turku. For 12 Euros with a rail pass (you won't find a better bargain than this in Scandinavia!!) you can get a triple bunk sleeper although the top bunk is not for those who suffer ...
Rovaniemi, Finland sd0744... where we saw the elves sifting through the literally thousands of letters he had received today. We then went to meet the old man himself. He was a friendly enough character, complaining to us how hot it is when he drops off presents in Australia. We paid a fortune to have a photo taken with him, and said goodbye. We then walked down through the forest to a Reindeer farm. There was not enough snow for ...
Rovaniemi, Finland bigbenn... to mosh and reminisce to a surprisingly talented nirvana cover band. It was great to celebrate Halloween, which is one of my favourite holidays - on Tuesday I was really missing the atmosphere and excitement that is always the air in Canada, and all the cute trick or treaters at the door. At least I had CBC radio to listen to and give me a spooky dose of Canadian Halloween spirit. But up next is Christmas, and in Santa's hometown, there is certainly no shortage of THAT spirit...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... climate change is happening because _____ (how warm it was last winter, bizarre weather, etc.), even if this cannot be "scientifically proven" to be a result of climate change, and is "just" ancedotal evidence based on your own experiences? that way of knowing the world, or others like it, accessable to everyone, is what i'm interested in studying. I am still hoping to finish by May or June. This time, I hope I know what I'm talking about...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... and takes time to get there, it is better to have ideas that have stood these tests of process and the input of many in a visible process. You get that with academic peer-reviewed journals. You do not get that with books like ZAMM. Regardless of the merits of academia vs just writing your ideas down on paper and publishing them, I was starting to feel suspicious about the sweeping conclusions ZAMM was coming to, so I started googling. I found a number of websites ...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonrise... at that age we are growing and changing so rapidly, each year is monumental and filled with change. so as i move into the post-quarter century club, i guess i am realizing how much happened in my 25th year. it wasn't always obvious (although some things like moving to a new country, starting a master's, falling in love, were i suppose), and it definitely wasn't all easy. but it feels good. i ...
Rovaniemi, Finland moonriseMore pictures! I'll leave the descriptions mostly for the photos, but here are some random observations from finland... - grocery shopping takes on a new excitement in a country where orange juice is called appelsini, whipped cream comes in yoghurt containers and yoghurt comes in milk containers, and baking soda comes in small little cylindrical containers resembling salt shakers. i have yet to find tofu ...
