... the lovely pool before bed.

TUESDAY: We had a fantastic day and really enjoyed our visit to Lake Como. It was definitely worth the drive and effort! What a truly beautiful place.

We set out early at 8.30 in the hope to beat the heat and get a car park near the funicular railway that takes you up a very steep gradient to lovely views at the top. We had a nice time wandering around at the top and David was very taken with an old old hotel ...

... cooked right in front of our eyes and the chef let us take a picture to prove it. Emma had a really good looking pasta. We sat on one of the benches and ate our meals before getting really yummy iced wine smoothies (our version of Italian wine) which we drunk whilst playing cards. At Edone, there were cute fairy lights hanging over the outdoor area where we sat. We ordered a magherita pizza to share. :) Once we finished, we headed off to Citta Bassa (Low City). We strolled around looking for a place that was open and selling nutella crepes, but we had no luck. We did find 2 statues with the names David and Simoene on them!!!! HAHAHAHA!!! I was reaaaallly tired by this stage so we headed back home. ...

... were able to amble and see all without others in the way. When we finished there, we went back on the square and all of Venice was out and about! People everywhere! We decided to have a coffee outside just under the clock in the square, probably the most expensive cup of coffee we will ever have...worked out to $30 for a cappuccino for two!
