We spent 4 nights at By the Sea in Port Douglas and were incredibly impressed! Fantastic location next to the beach right on the main street in town. Great self-catering facility with full kitchen and bbqs! Tons of extras provided for free including beach toys and boogie boards, eskies and ice, and a dvd player with tons of movies. The staff is fantastic - we would definitely stay again!!

Staff were great, apartments were gorgeous, and they think of everything - you can borrow deck chairs, sun loungers for the beach, cool-boxes, DVD's, laptops! Loved it!

We flew from Singapore to Darwin, and then Darwin to Cairns. To which we were very lucky, as the next day Darwin airport was closed due to the cyclones and storms.

We got in the taxi and made our way an hour north of Cairns, to Port Douglas. The scenery on the ocean road was fantastic, although after the full night of flying, and …

It's finally here...The Australian leg of our journey and the weather is beautiful. There are some clouds in the sky as we make our way from Cairns straight to Port Douglas but the views along the coastline are amazing. You can see the rainforests practically spilling over into the sea as they run down the hillsides. The ocean is vast and blue and …

After saying our goodbyes to Shannon and Paul at Cairnes, we went to Port Douglas to spend a few days before heading off to New Zealand. Port Douglas is a cute resort town with a beautiful, large stretch of beach called the four-mile beach, which seemed like a wierd name since Ozzies use the metric system. But it was incredibly beautiful and we …

For the second time in recent weeks we found ourselves watching the day dawn at Darwin airport. Our 6.55am flight to Cairns was with Qantas on a Boeing 717. It was light by the time we took off and clear for most of the two and a half hour journey. We travelled east over the vast wilderness of Arnhem Land. There was little sign of human …

It's amazing what the thought of crocodiles can do. Apparently it can get you out of bed early enough to get to the airport for a peak-hour flight, have your bags properly packed (as opposed to our experience going to the Barossa) and not making strange postal orders at the airport! What a success!

Clearing through …
