We left NZ as scheduled and we are now sitting on the Emirates B777-300 awaiting our flight to Prague. It's 8.45am here now on 16/8. The flights have been excellent on the A380 through to Dubai with the birthday menu for Barry being more than adequate. We are pleased to have the melb to dubai now behind us and currently we are now in flight to …
We have both slept well on our first night in Prague.
The hotel is European quaint - read small, but clean and has everything. We look down on some cafes and there is a food street market. We ate Al Brown style last night - we were tired and wanted one thing quick. So it was chicken kebab with a Czech Bbq potatoe dish - potatoe, sausage, …
So, when you think of Prague, do you think of spy agencies MI or MI6? Mission Impossible (or Impossible Missions Force) or super secret British spy agency MI6 (Military Intelligence Secret Service)? Or maybe Control? Ethan Hunt or James Bond or maybe Maxwell Smart? Well, I'd be lying if this city doesn't bring some intrigue. Perhaps it's the …
OK! We arrived in Prague and waited for our luggage that never arrived. We really believed this day would never come. After 22 years of travelling, our streak of never losing luggage has come to an end! ****! We were told the luggage would be delivered to our hotel within 24 hrs. However, this didn't alleviate our anxiety. Arriving …
... t have time to move to the ocean and be soaked into the ground. When drains start backing up and the ground becomes saturated, then you run into this fun little thing called a flood, which well, Prague has. 2700 people evacuated, 5 dead, yea... And the Vltava river, well, it's a bit high and RUSHING. And it was raining pretty much all day, so that didn't really help matters. But, extra sleep plus the entertainment of a ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Archibald U Karlova Mostu (at the Charles Bridge) Prague
We have been meaning to write this review for ages and have only just got round to it!
Briliant little place
I stayed here with friends to celebrate a birthday. There was 12 of in total and we all had great rooms. My rooms was facing the river and across to to old town. Breakfast was what you expect on the continent but there was a fantastic cafe about two minutes walk from the hotel. Serves hot chocolate in Pints!!!!
Great hotel, great location and you would need to be very picky not to enjoy your stay.
We spent 5 mights at U Karlova Mostu, and were pleasantly surprised, after an initial bad impression. Our first room, a 2 room suite actually, had a view of the river. BUT, it had little storage space and a bathroom so tiny, one could hardly turn around and there was no space to store even a toothbrush. The second day we were able to move across the hall to another 2 room suite which had a bigger bathroom and was better laid out. We were very happy with hotel. The decor was just ok, as was the included breakfast. But the location and the pleasant staff really made the trip for us. Kampe Island is literally under the Charles Bridge, yet is so calm and quiet that it was like being in the countryside. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We will go back to Prague and will most likely stay here again.
Superb location almost literally underneath the Charles Bridge! Located on a really quaint and quiet island - named "Kampe".
Best Location and Hotel in Prague
On my two visits to Prague I have stayed at this hotel and can only say that it is a lovely hotel in a perfect location. The restaurant is also brilliant serving excellent food at a very reasonable price. Staff are friendly and helpful too
Adored Prague - the place and the people
We stayed in U Karlova mostu (hotel at the Charles Bridge). We had a lovely view of the Charles Bridge and the river. It was excellent, 15 seconds from the Charles Bridge. Close to Prague Castle, Old Town Square, many other tourist sites and shopping.
Prague is a bueatiful city and my wife and I will definately go back. We found the locals to be helpful and friendly. We also did some of the walking / boat tours and would highly recommend them. Some of the boats leave from the rear of the hotel. In all a cracking trip.
We love Prague, it was love at first sight, this hotel was our 4th visit to wonderful Prague. So what did we think of it? We had a beautiful room wih a fabulous view of the stunning Charles Bridge, traditionally in Prague our double was two singles pushed together, but not really an issue for us. Our only criticisms of the room was that our en-suite was tiny, shower only no bath, and we only had one mirror in only in the bath room (sounds picky but I'm looking for a hotel for my wedding guests to stay at!). BUT don't forget what a view, the staff were friendly and helpful and its so convenient for almost everywhere in Prague.
This hotel is in the perfect spot. Close to the bridge on the river, on a very nice street. There is a big park next door where people walk their dogs. Close to everything, but not noisey. Perfect!
A wonderful hotel. The location is just great, you cannot be closer to the Charles Bridge (on Kampa island, off the bridge), and yet, this is a very quiet location (although we were there in July). Many people just go on over the bridge and never come down to the island. The room was very charming, with a nice view on the Kampa square and on the bridge.
We've just returned from 5 fabulous days at the U Karlova Mostu. The hotel exceeded all my expectations. It is in the best location you could pick for visiting all the different areas, situated in a quiet tree lined cobbled square. All the districts are within walking distance but there is a metro station 5-10 minutes away. The staff are really friendly and always greet you with a smile. The rooms were spotless and looked as if they'd just been decorated. Complete with mini bar, safe, satellite TV and sofa. We stayed in a huge room with two windows overlooking the river and the Charles Bridge - absolutely breathtaking. We frequented Pub I on a number of occassions. The beer and food are excellent at very reasonable prices. One night we had heavy snowfall and temperatures were below zero, the fire in the Pub was so welcoming. The only disadvantage to the Pub is you have to go out of the hotel to the entrance On a freezing cold snowy night it would have been nicer to have access straight into the hotel but hey, if it hadn't been snowing I wouldn't have thought twice about it. Would definately recommend the hotel and would love to go back in the summer.
