Beauvais, Picardy, France tetenValencia, Spain October 27th through November 3rd Day 1, Monday October 27th Today I flew to Spain. I left apartment at 10:00 in the morning and finally arrived in Spain at 11:00 in the evening. I went with Merima, another American girl in Laon, who is from Minnesota. We were going to meet up with Anne, who took the train, and stay with Sunny, a friend who is doing a study abroad there. When I met Merima at the train station, we got a little worried. Our train ...
Beauvais, Picardy, France hithere52... dined" us as if we were favorite old friends. They shared 20 year old wine with us! (In the US, we buy wine and drink it that night. The French buy wine and save it for a later date.) I was speechless that they were willing to share such a treasure with us. We enjoyed a very special afternoon with them. Before we left they shared some ...
Auvers-sur-Oise, Île-de-France, France randyorrell... train back into town and met Steph. We met up and went to a special wine shop, a cheese shop, and ran to the store to get a couple of baguettes...one of the best meals I had in Paris! Well, except for the fact That I chose to get Munster Cheese (which I love in the U.S., ) but it definitely was NOT the same in Paris. It smelled like rotten eggs and we couldn't even bare to open it so we put it out on the window sill in hopes that one of ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France phillipsb1... to build up to, I got sick shortly after arriving in Krasnoyarsk! Ah the Eiffel Tower at 8:30am! How Trocadero looks different at a different hour of the day! This time let's look at the pretty clouds coming in! Paris has been a big tease the past 2-3 days, you wake up and walk to the metro, the sky is a bright gray, there are a few clouds...the sunlight is beaming through, so you think the day is going to be a beautiful one, but then you step off the metro, walk up to your exit ...
Chantilly, Picardy, France erinkovalI have always been interested in France. Also in the most beautiful villages of France. One of them is Gerberoy. Close (300 km./180 miles) to my home we went to visit it. It was desolated and abandonned until Henri-Eugene le Sidaner decided to reside there. He was a painter and other artists came and restored the village to its beauty it is now.

Beauvais, France philocanWe stood at the front along side the cattle heard waiting to get on the plane, then to our luck, the they decided to open the other gate just where we were standing and now the heard stood behind us. MR. Ryan Air, what a guy... for just about a hundred fiddy bucks, same price of an 8 hr train, we were both able to get to Spain in just under 2 hours. What a guy, hey look, he's even advertizing on the planes too! Clever use of a giant moving billboard!! What a guy.
Beauvais, France kylegdavis... to London. It worked out perfect because we will get to London Monday morning, which means we won't miss any of the orientation and room selections. We also tried to book a hotel for Bari the Sunday night before the cruise leaves. That was a little bit of a problem because every hotel or hostel in Bari is booked. We may be sleeping at the train station. The rest of the day Sarah and I went and saw ...
Paris, France jessica_caywood... floor and found the desk. Stupid system! No signs in French or English telling you where to go. With that done we went to the Air France bus but because of a work stoppage the route we wanted was not running. So, we got on the one to Montparnesse (studying our map on the way). Managed to buy Metro tickets and make our way to the hotel stop. It was much easier to follow than I expected but the stops were pretty dirty - lots of trash and graffiti. So, now we're ...
