    DAY 8

A travel blog entry by billyrubes on Mar 05, 2015

It was surprisingly difficult to wake this morning. I don't know why. Had the usual breakfast, coffee, yogurt, croissant and then headed off. My goal today was to get to Bordeaux. Fairly easy drive. Ended up staying at a chain hotel again. Not the cheapest, but clean and quiet. Was recommended an Italian restaurant down the street. Went and got some cash from the ATM and then headed over. They opened at 7PM so I waited ...

Good evening, Yesterday evening I arrived in Bordeaux on the train from Paris. I was expecting quaint wine town, but was disappointed to find sketchy, drunken college town. Arcachon turned out to be an upmarket holiday resort with chic town, massive villas and beautiful beaches. Plenty of cycling and swimming in the ...

Open fields and pines along the French coast line of the Atlantic Ocean. Typical colonial farmer towns of the country side and once at the beach, boulevards, cafes, shops, restaurants, and infinite beach breaks, some better than others. A relaxed surfers paradise for a retirement future plan. People here are respectful, conscious about the environment and aware of their surroundings, just a couple of things that doesn't click yet; they don’t ...

    Slurping oysters in Arcachon!

... apparently, a hotel! I ran up to the top so I could take photos, no easy task, as walking in deep sand is very good exercise indeed! Luckily there was a set of stairs and a rope handrail for going up, and I plunged through the sand barefoot on the way down, quite fun, actually!
