Stayed at the hotel for only a night, but was a decent hotel. Staff were friendly. It's just a quick drive away from the airport.

... the timber. We passed through the town of Elzach where they have an annual catholic/pagan carnival to drive away the winter ghosts. Only men participate and it is basically men behaving badly with their identity hidden behind garish masks. It is also the town where the German Football team take their annual R and R - maybe the two events are connected! In the towns and villages around here people decorate their houses, gardens and public parks with Easter decorations ...

... is a nice day in Vienne but as I feared it deteriorated as the day progressed and we headed further north. Not long before we reached the Swiss border the rain was steady though not heavy. The cloud was very low so the beautiful Swiss countryside did not appear to be so beautiful today. Then like an Easter Saturday miracle, the rain stopped and there were even some patches of blue as we crossed through the border checkpoint just near ...

... of Switzerland. After a gentle look around and some lunch (another lovely local soup with meat and vegetables) Joy - of all people!! - said she fancied going up the mountain by cable car. Now Joy is scared of heights, and these are pretty big mountains, but off we went. Two rather nervous cable car rides later, we were at the village of Murren, altitude some 5,600 feet and about half way to the summit of ...

So what did we do today? We went to three different countries, yes just TODAY! :) Sarah and Martin took us on a three country tour of Germany, France, and Switzerland. We started in Switzerland of course, then went to Germany and had a great lunch at a cute little restaurant. We tried both French and German Cuisine, then had Gelato of course!

We drove by the Black Forest and then found an old castle on a hill ...

... hours, when there are lots of business people. That said, the 2nd class cars are nice as well. The entire system is very well maintained, staffed and operated.

We had a beautiful day on the lake in Lucerne. Loved that. Of what we saw, the city was not that interesting, but lunch and Cindi yodeling and playing a 10 ft horn was a well worth it.

Colmar, France was adorable. While there we took a skiff ride/tour down the Leek ...
