Stayed at the hotel for only a night, but was a decent hotel. Staff were friendly. It's just a quick drive away from the airport.

... that we did not hit any speeds anywhere near 300kph. We sat at a table with a businessman-communications-consultant. His English was excellent and we had a very good conversation for the last hour of the trip to Basel.

We arrived in Basel around 11:05am, we disembarked and James & I made a bee line for Brezelkönig - the pretzel shop - a little piece of heaven. We changed a few Euros for Swiss Francs and headed downtown. ...

... hats to look like the locals. Called in at the biggest cuckoo clock in the world. What a privilege. All day we headed through beautiful forest scenery, until we arrived at a little town called Todtnau. It was in a real mountain area, but we came here because of the bobsled run. 3.6 km of fun. Sadly we ended up standing in line for an hour and a half waiting for our turn, but it was ...

We were speaking to some English people a few days prior to heading to Mulhouse, they had recommended it as a place to stay as it had the National Motor Museum of France there - there was a little confusion as to where the place was as we had already seen the area on the map and were heading in that direction, the issue was we referred to Mulhouse as Mole-House, the couple we spoke to (could speak French) pronounced it Mul-ooose, the correct way!

We arrived on site at ...

... quietness of the place. After a quick lunch break we crossed the canal and went across the Rhine river as well, only to find ourselves having to cross the German border in order to progress. Sure why not? Except the path became not so bucolic as we went through an industrial zone, all the way to the "3 country bridge", marking the point where Germany, Switzerland and France meet. So we went on it, and boom, there we were back in France. Funny to see ...

    Goodnight Johnboy

    July 16

30 C today! Off to Zürich to re-unite Nicole and Aidan with Vadim. Took a tour of Google including lunch (excellent and healthy). Very impressive if not quite as extensive as HQ in Mountain View(obviously). Given all the lounges, games, mini kitchens, it is amazing that everyone looks slim and that work gets done - which it obviously does.

Back to Rodersdorf for a last swim in ...
