Another day along the coast. The route took us away from the sea although we did find a great view across to Ile D'Oleron from near La Tranche sur Mer. A particular feature of the coast is the marshes (Marais with various water beds for oysters, nets for shrimps and shortly eels at Marans. ... was adamant on being our taxi service for the day. Willy's parents had kindly offered for Imogen and I to stay with them on our overnight stay in Lyon and might I add Pascale and Michel went above and beyond in making Imogen and I feel at home. ... a whipped-cream pie, but I went for the apple-crumble and bitter european hot chocolate. Remind me to stick to good ol' american apple pie and hot chocolate. But, it was rather enjoyable to just sit and chat with Professor Tarnowski and the other students and, mostly, just get out of the rain.

... terminal to catch the shuttle to our hotel. This was no hefty Park'n'Fly vehicle, it was an anemic European multi-passenger van with some extra cargo space behind the 3rd bench seat. We packed it cho-a-bloc full 3 times over to get us and all the bags to the hotel. By this time it was only about 9am, and our rooms were not available until noon. What to do? ...
