... m. For our excursion to the silk district where we saw a demonstration on an old loom invented by Mr. Jacquard, patron saint of upholsterers everywhere! Silk scarves and ties were expensive souvenirs I was not tempted to buy. Next stop was a half hour at Des Halles of Paul Bocuse, a smallish but expensive gourmet food market where marinated prawns were$100 a kilo and smoked salmon $60 a kilo. Lyon knows how to have a good time. Indeed it was a Friday, but still the small streets were so packed with people and the city of Lyon felt very much alive in the night. Along the small streets more then half of them were restaurants, and all of them were packed with locals and tourists alike.

... br> The musee was quite comprehensive - roman ruins as usual made one in awe of their magnificent power and might back in those days. Lyon - was a colony of Rome. Possibly created to house exiled powerful people. Lyon grew to be a great colony and even had their representative in the senate in Rome.
