French Riviera or more accurately Cote d'Azur (blue coast) is essentially the South-west to North-eastern Mediterranean coastline of France from Cassis all the way to Monaco and further to Ventimiglia in Italy. Nice is the de facto central hub of the French Riviera.

Lib is trying to avoid driving in Italy if she can - the driving style is relaxing for them (ie they don't seem to care about signs, pulling out in front of you, staying on their side of the road etc) but not at all relaxing for us. We haven't even been near a big city yet - hopefully we'll manage to keep well ...

We first visited the Casino at Monte Carlo driving on some of the famous Formula 1 circuit, then made our way to Monaco. There we visited the cathedral, the jardins exotique and the Prince's palace. We had a small amount (1 hour and 10 minutes) of free time ...
... was simply quaint. Appearing not to have changed over the years with no vehicle access past the city gates. It was interesting watching how the retailers and cafes got deliveries. Not an enviable job pushing the Carts uphill. Lots of little shops here cashing in on the many tourists that visit. One to put on the list if your planning a trip to the Fernch Riveria.
