    French Riviera or more accurately Cote d'Azur (blue coast) is essentially the South-west to North-eastern Mediterranean coastline of France from Cassis all the way to Monaco and further to Ventimiglia in Italy. Nice is the de facto central hub of the French Riviera.

    We sailed into Monaco at around 6:30am Friday 1 August 2014. The city (population of about 32,000 inhabitants) is as with many other European cities, set on the coastline adjacent to high mountains and sheer rock cliffs. It is a very beautiful setting.
