French Riviera or more accurately Cote d'Azur (blue coast) is essentially the South-west to North-eastern Mediterranean coastline of France from Cassis all the way to Monaco and further to Ventimiglia in Italy. Nice is the de facto central hub of the French Riviera.

We took a train from Paris early morning and arrived at Cannes by early afternoon. Shilpa's college friend Kuljinder (Raju) lives in a village called Mougins ...

We haven't even been near a big city yet - hopefully we'll manage to keep well ...

... just over-one-hour trip. We left Cannes and went through Nice before arriving into the Principality.

We first visited the Casino at Monte Carlo driving on some of the famous Formula 1 circuit, then made our way to Monaco. There we visited the cathedral, the jardins exotique and the Prince's palace. We had a small amount (1 hour and 10 minutes) of free time ...

... was simply quaint. Appearing not to have changed over the years with no vehicle access past the city gates. It was interesting watching how the retailers and cafes got deliveries. Not an enviable job pushing the Carts uphill. Lots of little shops here cashing in on the many tourists that visit. One to put on the list if your planning a trip to the Fernch Riveria.

    After that ...
