Because Liz did not have the Tuesday off, we had to leave very early from Chapala. At 7:00 to be exact. After a crazy ride we made it home in time for Liz to get to work almost on time. There, Brandon, Chris and me decided to have a quick nap, only Liz had to work. Afterwards the three of us cruised around the city to run some errands. I also got to meet Brandon's girlfriend.

... and playing with their laptops. Recycled kombi vans are optional. Other villages, the ones that take several determined hours on poor roads to reach are completely undeveloped with their makeshift housing clustered at the back of a beautiful bay and the inhabitants still making a living through low level fishing, farming and grazing. An idyllic lost world for sure, but one of relative poverty.

... 2nd. Shrines are constructed, bands, food and drink are brought into the local cemeteries of Mexico. These shrines include pictures of the deceased, favorite food, clothing, jewelry... anything that holds memories of the departed.

... and Canadian retirees. Hearing someone speak English here is common, and most of the Mexican residents speak English fluently. We saw some gorgeous sub-divisions that were gated off from the main road. I am told that this highly popular area has fallen victim to high demand and high real estate prices, so finding an affordable home in this area would be difficult, just as trying to find the actual authentic Mexican lifestyle.

In the stalls, you can buy just about anything- gorgeous ceramic dishes and casseroles, clothes, shoes, jewelry, pets (particularly birds and fish), Tupperware, toothpick holders, toys, snacks of all kinds (fruit, tacos, gorditas, tortas ahogadas, candy, aguas frescas...you name it!)
