Rude receptionists questioning our wealth (a.k.a. can we afford to stay there and for no obvious reason) and talking shit behind our backs and laughing at us etc. highly unprofessional things. Probably gave us the worst room with a long-ish walk to there and a dangerous bathroom. Luckily it was only for a little rest before the flight.

... visiting friend. I felt truly loved and appreciated those last days of my amazing Bali time! So I arrived safely and on time in Frankfurt at 6:30 am, my bag was in sight the moment I exited the plane and Robert, whom I met in New Zealand stood ready to pick me up with a box full of great stuff! We watched the sun come up from the Main river in the city, talked and talked and then he dropped me off at mum's old friend's house ...
Our day today consisted of a guided tour around the old city of Dusseldorf. We saw the longest pub and saw other buildings of historical significance. Fun to see - and there is no dawdling - it's GO or STOP. We had to be very alert at the road ...
... in the week. Evidently it's very important to drink alt beer in Dusseldorf - the locals are very offended if you don't. I decided it's not my favourite so I had to be quite careful about what I chose!
We enjoyed walking on the path that runs along the edge of the Rhine and watching the ships going up and down. The restaurants line the path throughout the summer and do ...
... up again and we went for a bit of a tour of Dusseldorf. Hell of a different scene from Beijing that's for sure. Very nice, clean, tidy and German. We checked out the Altstadt area (old city) which is on the banks of the Rhine which is full of bars & restaurants with people spilling out onto the streets drinking beer, bad mouthing the French etc. We had a couple of beers and a meal then headed home and cashed by 9pm. ...
