Rude receptionists questioning our wealth (a.k.a. can we afford to stay there and for no obvious reason) and talking shit behind our backs and laughing at us etc. highly unprofessional things. Probably gave us the worst room with a long-ish walk to there and a dangerous bathroom. Luckily it was only for a little rest before the flight.

... much dusting...One or two is best for me. After a long day of sightseeing in Cologne time to find the Cologne beer - which was not a problem at all - they have little pubs along the pedestrian area which runs about two blocks. Stopped at Papa Joe's...must be a kind of local hangout.. We found a window table onto the square so we could people watch. We saw two weddings...lots of tourists...a pug dog...a few ...

Beautiful morning as we left Andernach and cruised towards Cologne. The river traffic is noticeably heavier and bigger, with many more River Ships (barges), but the scenery along the river is beautiful.

We spent the morning in the lounge, reading, talking, relaxing. Of interest on the river were the remains of the Remagen Bridge which was destroyed by the Allies in WWII. The movie, The Bridge ...

... The Romans were fairly sophisticated in their infrastructure, for example, in 1995 when installing a new sewerage system the contractors discovered the remnants of a bricked sewer tunnel with ran for at least 130 metres towards the river. However there is no record of this facility being used within the last 1000 years. A section of the bricked sewer has been reconstructed above ground. Our tour included an archeological dig in the Jewish quarter with remains dating back ...

... ask one of the waiters if he knows how to get to Joe. The waiter doesn't speak english, so I get a random dude to translate the conversation. After a while, the waiter understands me - and out of nowhere - he pulls out the keys to the apartment! Kind of a fluke... :) The apartment is awesome by the way. Later, Gustav came and we went out for a few beers. Düsseldorf seems like a really cool ...

... s precisely what we did. I first ate a Bratwurst because it's a typical German treat. As I said before about eating Haggis, I'm a really picky eater. I loved the bratwurst, though! At another vendor I got some mozzarella sticks, because I was still a little hungry.

At that point I was planning on not eating anymore, but I happened upon a vendor making Nutella crêpes. As a rule, I never turn down Nutella anything. I wasn't let down either, it was really good.
