The End of Scandinavia
... and cooked up some much needed grub and wathed the sun set over the sea....such a tough existence!!! We camped nearby and plodded onwards the following morning after our customary porridge and coffee. We had been offered a place to stay by a finnish couple near Oulu, but sadly they were still on holiday when we text them, so they couldnt put us up. So we headed further south toward Helsinki and found an amazing free hut/castle ...

Yesterday was the last day of school. We gave our presentations and then school was done. I was so happy. I packed up a little bit more and then we had a dinner at a pizza place. The pizza's were huge!!! It was a nice evening....that was pretty much the day.

Sunday
... Afterwards, we had time to sit at a small inlet and swim. Several of us decided to swim to the other side of the little inlet..only about 100 meters...but I thought I was going to have to save one of the girls...another 50 meters and she would have been a distressed swimmer. We sat on the other side (the beach) for awhile and then swam back. We then got back on the bus and then for the rest of the evening I read, cooked mac and cheese and brocolli and started to pack. ...
Summer cottage by the sea
Thursday afternoon, after packing and cleaning, we did the Finnish thing and headed off to our host family's summer cottage about an hour away by the sea. Birgith and I had been there earlier in the week so because Rina & I had some idea, as well as Tim the tomtom for our guide, we followed at our own pace. The family were going for the weekend but for Rina & I this was going to be less than 24 hours so we had to make the most of it.

... hill from which a sentinel trumpeted an evening vesper. It sounded beautiful - apparently to each of 4 directions, first in the direction of the President's summer palace across the bay.
The atmosphere was so relaxing would have loved to stop longer but Rina had a sauna date back at Narvi lake public sauna with friend Camila so we hot footed it back making it in time before the 10pm closure.
