    ... br> This town was obviously a holiday town for the ordinary Italian families, and was very like Blackpool. Unfortunately most of the shops were shut as we arrived in the siesta time. Sicily really adheres to this unless it is somewhere like Taormina.

    Met at 2.00 pm to be taken back to our hotel. As we have to pack and get ready to go to Palermo ...

    ... I was on fire with this wine so we stayed a while then a cold salad buffet was put out. People just went up and helped themselves , the barman told us to go up it was free!! So we went up a few times and took the edge off our hunger and ordered more wine! It was heaven. Then a Jazz band started setting up so we stayed on and ordered Bruscetta which is a topping on toasted Ciabatta drizzled with olive oil, nice ...

    Gilberto said it would be best if I rested today as the visit to Erice was very hilly and up and down, so we were quite happy to stay at the resort. It is such a beautiful place with glorious views over the sea, unfortunately covered in "sea mist", so not very good for photography.

    I stretched my leg in the night half asleep and set my foot off again, pain so bad that I was whimpering. ...

    ... lunch which Neil and I and Lorraine and Helen thought the star of the meal was the spaghetti marinara absolutely fabulous. We also loved the sea bass which had a herb and pistachio topping on it which didn't overwhelm the taste of the fish. Wine supplied of course.
    Gilberto had arranged a lift for me from the coach to the restaurant and back again.

    Off to the airport to pick up Mark who has joined us for a few days so we get to see some more of the Island. We then head up to a historical town called Erice for lunch and the views were stunning. A Sunday night stroll through the city to show the sights to Mark was a real eye opener as all the SIcilians were out promenading so we just had to stop and have a Mojito and people ...
