      Quiet and Serene

this is a review for Apple's Retreat over the bridge from the main road - there is another closer in town.
The staff at Apples Retreat are wonderful and the Restaurant serves lovely food. The rooms are adequate, if not a little uncomfortable - very firm beds and they only clean the rooms every 3 days (which meant they didn't clean our room or change our towels once during our stay). They are environmentally conscience, but really? Don't bother there for breakfast as a cup of tea will put you back 85 baht instead of 20 baht down the street.
I think they are just getting used to the ropes in their new expanded place, so this is a mixed review, but I would try them again.

A wonderful, quiet place to stay. The rooms are large and clean, the staff really helpful and the location is great for getting around and visiting all the museums and sights.

Tim had booked us into City Lodge, Bangkok and the following morning, after a lovely sleep in an oh so comfortable bed, Tim and Pensri came to pick us up around 10 am and we left Bangkok, heading for Kanchanaburi.

Both my brother and I had been there before. Our father had fought in World War II, been captured at the fall of Singapore and …

After traveling through Laos and Cambodia using public transport and tours for travelers, we decided to be independent for a week and hired a Honda Pick Up truck and drive where-ever the fancy took us. On day one, the novelty of having control of times and destinations meant that we got excited and traveled quite some miles, taking in Ayathaya (...
