Tuesday morning we said good-bye to Cam and commenced heading West - our destination for the next days being the Great Smoky Mountains, initially in North Carolina and then in Tennessee.   • Met up with Jim and Darlene, who were with us on the Panama Canal cruise my sister and I took last November for lunch. They are staying in Ashville, NC so half way was Spruce Pines. We found a great restaurant for lunch.....Mountain View. It certainly lived up to their name.
  • On the way back to Boone, I stopped at Linville Caverns.

When school gets tedious it is only right to find an andventure to satisfy my calling.... This morning I had woken up in the middle of Virginia and got to board a bus to who knows where. 17 of us Montreations, 3 bus drivers and one punt-me-dog are imbarking on an adventure around the west. ... and there were too many stairs for someone who is handicapped. so we borrowed one of their wheel chairs, so I could sit in it and John could push it and lean on it. This also enabled us to take an elevator between the two main floors. Unfortunately, we had to climb to the other floors on the stairs.

... like the fact that the German ambassador, his family, and his staff were housed there during WWII. It is also the setting of some of Glen Hirshberg's stories in _The Book of Bunk_. Glen is one of Joe's former colleagues from CSUSB.
