... we had several miles of worry, not to mention several more miles of ridiculous, and I mean ridiculous, sharp, high incline hairpin bends to negotiate. After about half an hour of going up and round, up and round, I was beginning to think this would be the most unlikely place for a border crossing ever. But a border crossing, some 6000ft in the air, it was. And through a tunnel in the mountain (at the halfway mark of which read a sign saying 'welcome to Slovenia', a ...

Returning back into Austria (we didn't do any detours, look at a map, this is just the shape of the borders) we came back into ski Sunday scarred territory but it almost seems churlish to make the point because the rest of the scenery is so immaculately kept, so beautiful, so dramatic. ... for Mike in order to continue with the next few days events of Mountain Biking and Via Ferrata for which smart leather shoes would simply not suffice! This was followed by a quick trip round the local Supermarket to get more supplies and then quite a posh dinner at the caravan courtesy of the Cadac.....Piri Piri Chicken with Mozzarella Tomato salad, Lemon and Coriander Couscous, Salad and Olive Bread. Yum. Drinks in the awning and off to bed. ...

... Toll Roads the hills were not so dramatic but the engineering of the bridges and tunnels was pretty spectacular! Over the Brenner Pass, Steph even got a sign at the border this time, and then a long descent down into Italy towards Bolzano-Bolzen. The scenery was stunning with Medieval castles and terraces growing vines. The temperature got hotter as we came down into the valley to 32degrees when we stopped briefly at the Service ...
