... of Britain. For about an hour rain obviously hurled itself down over that way, though nowhere else. Around us people continued to eat their evening meals slowly, uncaringly, not noticing the apparent apocalypse coming towards us. But notice they would, as nature slowly but surely threw itself, seemingly all of itself, at us.

As the rest of the camp went into flight, cutlery, plates and food shoved hastily into bags and bowls, bodies chucked into tents, ...

... of the surroundings, I'll make an exception for campsite Magdalene in Rieden, just outside Fussen. And also because, if you are ever visiting this area, it seems Magdalene is the only site that ever has places, or is prepared to squeeze people in. It's a lovely site, again very clean and well presented. The location of it is amazing - we are in the bottom of the valley with the mountains rising up all around us and loads of trees too. Last night (Monday night) after we arrived we got the caravan pitched and decided it was time to enjoy ...

We left Camping Ampersee at 9:00 and headed down the Autobahn into Munich, along with every other car in Germany!! Yes of course there were some more roadworks just to slow things down a little more. Then to finally put the nail in the coffin of the myth of German efficiency the two major Autobahns that we need to drive on are linked by using a central highway through the metropolis of Munich. Traffic lights, junctions, shops, schools... ...
