... was placed on Cima Grande in 1915 to light up the Italian assault. The walk today was over 8km but I didn't find it to be a hard walk and even if it had been, the scenery was so magnificent that it would have been worth it - the Dolomites are certainly spectacular. We then went back to the Pebell Alm for lunch before wandering back down the track and hill to the vans and returning to Matrei.
