... 3 large pieces per plate) and the lady very kindly gave us some of hers to try - as it had a special garlic salsa on top. We tried to communicate "no no that's ok, you eat it" but she insisted and it was delish! It was sooo nice of her, danke danke danke didn't say enough in our opinion.
Dani managed to request the bill using her German (with the help of our trusty guide book of course), feeling like she was in a public speaking contest, very embarrassing, as we ...

Cna you carry some bags?

We went to the meeting in the morning and yet again, met a lot of vacationers and convention delegates from around the world in addition to the already multinational congregation. The speaker mentioned Carlisle, Mass in his talk and used about 6 different props-those were the meeting highlights. Afterwards, we made plans to go out with some of the friends for the afternoon before our train to Budapest at 5. I started talking to an eccentric sister from Arizona who ...

Goodbye Vancouver!

After a few drinks with my parents at the airport, and half of a hockey game, we were off on our big adventure! Our first flight was to Amsterdam. We had plenty to do on the plane so it went by pretty fast. We both watched "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" which was really good, and we played tetris which I won. We had two meals, one was beef and potatoes, then in the morning eggs ...

Vienna - artists and very large gardens

... Prague and Cesky Krumlov, Shellie and I almost have our fill of impressive buildings Baroque architecture and monuments! Unfortunately I was not able to catch a performance by the Vienna Boy's Choir as they only perform on the weekends. So we decided on only spending two nights in Vienna, and to change our route to include Budapest. As a result the next stop will be Bratislava, Slovakia.

... what I like to call my 'Audrey Hepburn' dress... black and simple... I will try to upload some pis tomorrow but tonight it is time for zzzzzzz's... so that I will be rested for a tour of the historical highlights of Vienna in the morning and dinner and a Mozart and Strauss concert in the evening. It will be very weird without having Min with me...

Blood sausage and beer

Today is day six in Vienna. The Hilton charges 27 euro per day to use their internet, so I've been boycotting the net for the week. Most of my days are spent working at the conference and in the evenings we've been bouncing around downtown Vienna. It appears that everything is centered around StephansPlatz which is a large square surrounding a giant cathedral. My evenings have been spent enjoying some Vienna restaurants and ...

Days 27-30

... independent republic instead). Back to the hostel I had the usual pass time activity: drink beer and chat with Justin, Kelley and whoever happened to be there at the hostel bar. Day 30 Too much beer the night before, too little motivation in the morning! For that I decided not to do much, just buy some souvenirs and go to one or 2 places I had already planned to go when in Vienna. First stop: Kaisersgruft (the emperor' crypt). There is the place where most (if not ...

Sick in Vienna

... to sleep. I called ahead and upgraded us to a private room cause we knew a dorm room would be horrid for him... For the rest of the afternoon, Lewis slept and I just wandered around the hostel, and down the road to the supermarket. The next day, Lewis was still way too sick to do anything. We figured he may not get better before it was time to leave Vienna, so for the first time I had to venture out in the big world of Europe by myself. Not necessarilly a bad ...

Day 1/2

... would have slept better, except that my bag took up a lot of room and caused my legs to cramp, my feet were FREEZING to point where I could hardly feel them, and some nearby lady was rambling loudly in German. Luckily, I never leave home without my trusty earplugs. I awoke to a breakfast of OJ, a bagel, cream cheese, a granola bar, and a banana - all of which I consumed in less time than it took me to type all of that. The remainder of the flight passed quickly ...

Following the Danube

... There was not a dry eye on the front row where a few of the parents were sitting. At the end I congratulated the singer and asked questions. They were a music school from Utah who had a series of concerts planned in different European cities. "We just don't have many places like this in the US", explained one of the tutors. "We ask them if we can use the venue and they often agree". The next event started ...
