      ZERMATT TO LONDON

... hassles at the airport bags pass and no pat down although I looked a fright after removing bobby pins. Arriving at Gatwick the beginning of a nightmare. We walk and walk and walk to the customs check. UK /EU citizens go in one line and the rest of us in another. Our line is very long and very slow we waited an hour at least (the Uk citizen have long ago left the ...

... their yellow fall colours. The rivers and lakes are coloured by glacial flour and a milky turquoise. The buildings have slate roofs often with orange lichen growing on them and some of the buildings are perched on stilts with flat slate rocks which are to keep the mice out apparently. Later we visit the Matterhorn museum and learn more about the climbers and the way of life of the people of Zermatt. It will be sad to leave ...

Zermatt is much like Whistler with many shops selling winter clothing, ski equipment and souvenirs that is until you venture outside the centre. Then you find the traditional buildings, farms with long haired goats in various versions of black and white. The Alps are awesome, you need a whole new vocabulary for the beauty of this ...

I'm so happy today is transport day. Traveling is great but there is a quote from the movies - "there is no place like home" - that seems to be calling us. We have taken a train from Venice to Milan and express train to Geneva. The Italian Alps are everything friends have told us about. The difference between our Rockies and the Alps is we kept looking for Heidi. Switzerland appeared very clean and very green, something we had not ...

We had such a nice stay in the B&B Borgo di Creggio. I've never seen such an interesting place in my life. It was a huge complex with any and every kind of weird art in every space and on every wall. From an old dental chair in the dining room to a bust of Caesar, all kinds of African, and Indian art. This place was the most eclectic place I've ever seen. I could have spent hours in each of the rooms just studying things. Bizarre!!!!
