Okay- my idea of an "easy valley hike" is not exactly the same as the guide book. But, in fairness, it said "the easiest" on the tour, not "easy." I also must admit that I failed to read the last paragraph that described the 1200' climb at the end of the hike to get into Champex, Switzerland. It was a six hour hike, ending by walking along ...

... headed to the little restaurant and enjoyed the local specialty of potatoes with melted cheese out on the grass. (I like Swiss food!). When we were ready to get back on the trail to finish our hike for the day, we pulled out the itinerary to find the name of our hotel. Much to our surprise, we had already arrived! Day 7 Today was another relatively comfortable day, although the heat made things tough at times, when we were climbing uphill. We passed thru beautiful farmland, Swiss villages, and forested areas before arriving in Champex, a beautiful town on the top of the Col. It had a lovely lake, less than half the size of Wendouree. As it was a Sunday, and hot, there were lots of people in pedal boats, little rowing boats and canoes, as well as ...

... wash his shirt. I had to stop myself from clapping. Dinner was delicious, and afterwards we took some group photos as it was Emily's last night, as she is going back to Annecy after we reach Champex tomorrow. She is quite a big girl, but walks strongly, and although she was pretty shy to begin with, her English is probably the best of all. Then we played Crowns which has become quite a hit. Tonight we have 7 mattresses in a row, and it's quite hot and stuffy in the ...

... Zurich). We got settled in our apartment and then went to get all our skis, boots, helmets, lift passes, goggles, gloves etc (ouch this place is expensive too) and then went into the centre of town to see the season opening party and the lighting of the town Christmas tree. It was lots of fun and had a very good atmosphere in a swiss-german kind of way and then we called it a night early so as to be ready for day 1.

Fortunately we chose the highest ...
