    On Tuesday, we left Hamburg and drove to Malchow, via a medieval town, Schwerin, which had a huge castle. It was the former residence of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg. It was built in the mid C19, incorporating existing structures from the C16 and C17. There were even foundation remnants going back to 1000AD.
