... and got some fresh hot waffles, shaped like the Cathedral with melted chocolate on, and some delicious Stollen. It was a one hour drive to Vaals / Holland. A cute little town. We had dinner at Mo'ment, an interesting little resturant. Duck was the speciality. Matt had huge ribs and H a vegetarian lasagna. Hotel Kasteel Bloemendal Vaals was where we stayed and it was lovely. 18C restored manor house, and we were in the renovated wing.

Today we visited the fort and caves at Maastricht in Netherlands but as we were passing the Lindt factory seconds shop in Aachen we had to stop and shop. Lot's of chocolates available that we don't see in Australia, we have nearly demolished the block of dark chocolate with pomegranate and chili. The fort in Maastricht was built in 1800s to protect the town from the French. It didn't help much as they had ...

... English and I am Australian, but she couldn't speak English so she walked on with a smile. Our walk in the afternoon was a guided walk with park ranger. The group was large with a few very well behaved German children, it was a long walk and no complaints from them. The ranger only gave the talks in German but a nice man with reasonable English tried to give us the gist of them once we started walking again. Anyway the forest is beautiful to look at and we got onto some muddy hiking ...
