... that is Denmark (25% GST amongst other taxes!!!), it had some nice-looking pubs and eating places too.

On Thursday morning I said goodbye to Emil, had breakfast with Claus and Louisa, and Claus dropped me at the the train to Copenhagen. Once there I had about 3 hours to spare before I had to be at the airport for my flight to Spain, and so I stowed my luggage in lockers at the train station, found a map and went on a zooming 2-hour bolt around Copenhagen. What a wonderful city ...
Genk, Limburg, Belgium emmav... from them over the years. Although they don't speak english and we are equally proficient at dutch, we were able to enjoy each others company and acknowledge our family connection. After heading home, we stayed up watching english movies!! with dutch subtitles of course.
After having a fantastic sleep, we had breakfast and went for a bike ride. Feeling quite dutch, we rode around the quiet streets of Boukoul and into neighbouring towns where we saw Grandma ...
Boukoul, Limburg, Netherlands steveandwhitneyDuring our stay in Spa we had the most scary, horrible, unpleasant experience ever in a restaurant.

The restaurant to avoid is "Le Bouchon Gourmand", the owner does not hesitate to insult customers, lock them into the restaurant if there is a dispute on the bill, and claim more money than is due.

See more on www.bouchon-gourmand.blogspot.com
Spa, The Ardennes, Belgium un_belge... I was just wondering what kinds of problems I was going to have and how many times I was going to look stupid with my German and how ****** off I was gonna be when I got back tonight. I was scared. But, surprisingly and much to my relief, everything worked out just splendidly!

I hope tomorrow will be just as successful as today.

PS - I don't even have to go to Oktoberfest-this weekend there is a music festival in Aachen!!!
Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jrsours... and got a few things checked off of the list: Met with the rental guy and looked at the apartment and took some pictures of the apartment, then went to the bank and finished my damage deposit account and set it up so my rent will automatically be paid on the last day of every month.

I decided that I won't be able to go to Oktoberfest, at least not in Munich this year, anyway. I will try to go to another festival somewhere ...
Baesweiler, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany jrsours... They told us we were at the highest point in Belgium, which was somewhere in the Nature Park.

We decided to call it a day for the roadbook, and make a detour to just get into Luxembourg for fuel, and to make sure we 'did' all the countries.

Looking back that detour cost us some time, but did mean we visited Luxembourg, even if it was too dark to see it.
Eupen, The Ardennes, Belgium dirtyweekenders... on.

We stopped at one point, because the roadbook wasn't very clear, at which point Gaz and Charlotte came up behind us. They had been left behind by the V8s, as they were in a Series vehicle, so we said we'd stick with them.
At this point, Kieran noticed a strange noise from our engine, which was duly investigated by James. It was diagnosed as the fan belt tensioning pulley. But we didn't do anything about it at the time.
Elsloo, Limburg, Netherlands dirtyweekenders... that way!´. I found this fascinating. That the people in this pub lived in a different country from their neighbours, had a different government, different constitution, from those on the other side of the street. I tried asking them about it, whether it matters which side of the street you live on, what the differences are, but the conversation was now being held simoultaneously in French, German and English, depending on who was involved. Its hard enough to ...
Aachen, Germany dynamo(Originally published at http://www.troysgonewalkabout.com)
< br>The slight morning drizzle did not hamper us from exploring the centre of Maastricht, and it felt nice to be amongst the local goings-on in the busy market square. But, although we were enjoying being in the midst of life on the other side of the world from where we were born and raised, Amber and I soon got a surprise reminder of home. In a park on ...
Maastricht, Limburg, Netherlands troywilkinson... much to this picture. I had the occasion to see the Charle Magne grave, a half-man sized bowl decorated with gold and jewels; I felt very at ease in the cathedral of Aachen, watching Charle Magne mortal remains and dreaming about a world of knights and farmers.

That was the better afternoon of my last years, I swear it.
