... Very informative they said. It was the local nazi head quarters. Lots of the prisoners were 18 or younger, as these were the resistance fighters.

We all meet at the Joest Museum, which is an ethnologic collection based on Mr Joest's travel acquisitions in the 1800's. The curation of the museum was really well done, with beautiful presentation, and thought provoking observations on religions, nomads, household organizations.

... in Trier. I am anxious to see if I can find the apartment building where I lived when my Dad was stationed there in 1957. I never forgot the address or its general location. Stay tuned.

The weather has been staying mild and promises to stay so for a while longer. We are looking forward to our trip south and back to some of the old haunts (especially the gasthofs). We will photo some of the finer culinary delights.

... city with lots of history. Standing on their balcony, you can see into Belgium in on direction and to Germany in the other. Quite a unique little corner of the Netherlands. We were treated to wonderful home-cooked Dutch cuisine and had a fun time catching up after some ten years since they visited us in Canada.

... extensive and used to extend into Belgium and all together was over 200km in length. During WWII 15 people were able to escape Germany using the caves. Back to Gemund now to repack our bags as the weight limits on SAS are quite restrictive and we are going to have to make use of all 4x23kg checked baggage and all 4x8kg cabin baggage that we have between us. ... forest and the picnic tables and chairs were still damp from dew at midday. So we had our picnic on a covered bench on the boardwalk that was setup with interactive displays for people to learn about the forest. Needless to say there were lot's of passers by but only one older lady who was delighted to see us having a picnic and bottle of red wine (with colourful plastic cups).
