      Last day on the slopes

... in my robe. Mrs Klammers, the owner, ushered me back out of the dining room with mention of dress code. I thanked her sincerely.

Tonight was to be light-graffiti night. I had finger torches and had not yet used them. We gave Mrs Klammers one set, she seemed amused.

Down at fest alm armed with finger torches, we had a lovely evening bantering. New great friends and acquaintances from the week coming up to say it’s been a pleasure, see you next ...

Snowboarding day 5 - Off Piste!

A travel blog entry by don.vince on Jan 29, 2015

Great news: today is the day we are going to go off piste with Hannis! Hannis is the original snowboarder. Completely mad. Amazingly cool. He was itching to get away, the powder is better in the morning. "Waaaahhhhooooo!" was his warcry after being on the powder for just 10 seconds. He didn't stop hollering all morning. He told us the rules, fitted us with GPS broadcasting devices for our safety and showed me the most exhausting morning of boarding ...

Snowboarding day 4 - jumps in the park

If I am going to dance on the tables this aprčs ski, I’m going to have to go make new friends.

      I ...

      Snowboarding day 3

A travel blog entry by don.vince on Jan 27, 2015

I know the way today, up the mountain, down the mountain, in the right direction, not just on time for school, early! My reward: I hear beautiful singing & guitar playing; it's Róisín that I met on the bus the other day playing on the radio show. Nice work Róisín! Also to her credit, I asked and was granted the request to play 3 chords (badly) on her guitar, I miss my strings.

Virtually everything Julian teaches us today is "this ...

      Snowboarding day 2

A travel blog entry by don.vince on Jan 26, 2015

Having been late the day before I decided to go faster on the morning run across the mountain from Schlossalm to Angertal, I said "see you down there" to Garry, hit the road and didn't see him down there. At some point the signage stopped indicating that Angertal was in my future. Evidently I’d taken a left and should have gone right and was spending beautiful time being the fifth person down this side of the mountain back down ...
