5 Allee Marie Berault Rennes Rennes, Brittany, France, 35000, 820-881-881
I went just one day to Rennes. I thought it was really pretty since all of the houses are made of
rough stones, des maisons bretonnes typiques. Aussi, les maisons sont faites
toutes un peu croches, ca donne un petit style que j'aimais bien.
Et oui effectivement, il fait beau plusieurs fois par jour. It does rain a LOT.
There is mainly what is in every french city, bars, restaurants and shoe shops!
Been chopping some wood for the fire for the last 2 days with ayms cousins and family. 1 of ayms cousins has an old merc he doesnt need, so he has told us we can have it.
Its gonna cost qbout 400 euros to get in insured, mot and on the road, but im hoping rose and mickou will come and split the costs with us.
Petrol to tunisia through spain and africa will cost about 300 euros so its not too bad, hoping to get work in south of france next week to fund it.
Last night aymericks aymericks aunties and uncles came to the cottage with ANOTHER of ayms many cousins (i'm sure he has a factory where they make them), for his grans 85th birthday. Was a good night. But as much as i'm starting to feel at home here, i cant help feeling i want to move on. The excitement of being on the road and ...
... we counted only 4 people on our walk) I popped into a creperie to try the local buckwheat crepe. I ordered one with the lot - egg, ham and cheese. Not bad but doesn't match up to anything I have had at Manison du Scooby of late. Last stop in Vitre McWifi to upload our blog!
Vitre, Brittany, France darrenhough74Famed as one of the best preserved medieval towns in France or so says the Lonely Planet, the old town seemed like it had been swallowed by the new. We had our first crepe and enjoyed it as we wandered through the old cobbled stone streets which became more and more rewarding. We stumbled upon the local young un's hang out which was the city walls. The views looked down onto ...
Dinan, Brittany, France darrenhough74... brambles encroaching on the property (much to Prahla'ds dismay that one - he doesn't seem to like me doing anything that involves muscles - I'm female, so...; but he'd been looking so forlorn about it not being done and was worried about how busy he was so I said I'd do it and just got on with it and anyway, I needed to do something energetic), painting bottles for medicines/oils and so on.
Prahla'ds very sweet motto is ...
... the market area - amazing charcuteries with the most beautiful pates and terrines, boulangeries, fromageries, fruit and vegetable vendors. In this part of old Rennes, there is a large covered market with all the various stalls (like Granville Island, or the Calgary farmers market), but the surrounding streets have individual shops, one with mustards and olive oils only, another with teas, another with chocolates, and so on. I was wishing I had a ...
Rennes, Brittany, France cleanslate... As we drove past the truck, we started smelling the smoke and then, mixed with the smoke, the smell of cooked animal. Turns out that the truck was full of pigs...and all the pigs perished in the accident. It was a terrible, but funny story to tell my host parents when we got back since that was what made us late for dinner. Oh the stories we accumulate. For dinner, my host mom made Tartiflette. It is a traditional dish that comes from the mountains of France but it is amazing. It ...
Rennes, Brittany, France jess06... at home. It was an absolutely beautiful day. It wasn't warm, but the sun was out and everyone was in good spirits. We were on a tight schedule. Our director told us that if we missed the rendez-vous in St. Malo, there was a train back to Rennes. He wasn't kidding either. We only had about two and a half hours in St. Malo, an hour in Cancale for lunch and then we had to be at Mt. St. Michel by 2:45. This is because Mt. St. Michel is surrounded by ...
Rennes, France jess06... not working, he is in recovery from a disease but I don't know for how long or what disease. I don't think I'm going to ask for a while. I think that my host mother is a real estate agent, I'm pretty positive because she sold a travel trailer that appeared in our front yard on Saturday morning. It was great. Lucie goes to university at Rennes 1 and is studying financing. Camille still has a year and a half of high school left and doesn't know what she wants to do ...
