Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France inea34... Climbing up and up the roughly cobbled path you get a feeling of imposing grandure from the massive structure towering above. Walking along fortified walls strung with archer keys I couldn’t help but imagine I was a medieval maiden. (And to help with this fantasy, the nearest shop sells period clothing for both you and your partner!). Cruising through the streets my imagined past was crushed by the tapas bars and screaming children. I ...
Vic-la-Gardiole, Languedoc-Roussillon, France 2totango... Around 3 am we decided to call it a night (I know, grandpa JerBear going home early, right?). I go back to my barren apartment (more like my cloister) and go to bed.

Overall, it was really nice to spend the week on my own, in a big city, with people that I knew. I felt very independent and I am going to miss it. But I can't complain, as I am leaving for India in a week. Next time you hear from me, I'll be a true Indian raggamuffin.
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France jdcabanelWhat a waste of a day...

Go to Nimes and the national parks people said..... we ended up at a campsite way out of Montpellier and the highlight of our day had been the supermarket!!!!

The national park was lots of farm type marsh land... not what we had imagined. Nimes seemed pretty and lots of well preserved Roman things but the traffic was a nightmare and too hard to park so we kept driving with a plan to go out in Montpellier that ...
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France emmasadventures... mine a variety of glaces including licorice, topped with finely shaved licorice. The waiter explained when we were ordering that the chef considered cooking to be an art, and in the manner of a painter, he arranged the food as though it was on a palette. Hence the name of the restaurant.

Narbonne
Our friend Susan Flintoff had recommended a restaurant in Narbonne, called Le Petit Comptoir that she and Brett had enjoyed last year ...
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France cerise... station, taking a few pictures before departing on the train bound for Port Bou and then connecting to Barcelona. Montpellier seemed like a nice town in the proximity of the train station. Prices were reasonable and there were some facilities that were useful for tourists. Then again, after Switzerland, I think we would've felt the same about almost any other country's cities.
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France sponger42... along the sea shore. The fishing boats and sail boats in the harbor were a very neat site. Before leaving we decided to visit a city park dedicated to Albert Dubout a famous cartoonist. The park was designed with a cartoonist in mind and had some very interesting lamp posts; they were all tilted inward towards the sidewalks. Overall, we all enjoyed our visit to Montpellier and are excursion to the French Riviera.
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France naslund13... lot of time in this place. Tomorrow is the Superbowl, I'm going to be proud to be an American tomorrow night, something that I try not to flaunt normally. Then we are going to try and plan our weekend travels. Ideally, I'll be going somewhere almost every weekend. I'm not sure if that is logistically or financially possible, but we shall see. Well, I believe you are all updated now. So abientot mes amis. Bisous, Ash
Montpellier, France ashleyelizabeth... through my transaction before I had to dial a 4 in my user pin and discovered that the 4 did not work. My luck! So I had to wait for 10 minutes for one of the two remaining phones to free up. I finally got a hold of the phone and this time the 4 worked and I got through to the bus station only to reach a automated system that said something quickly to me in French then hung up. Exasperated, I descended the escalator and went back to the Accueil to find the girl I had ...
