    ... to the La Maison Carre with picnic in hand. With initial thoughts to watch the parade which could not be seen we had a coffee as you do and wandered off to the Jardins where there was a full re-enactment up on the high bridge of a Celtic ceremony honouring the God Nemos. The Malpas tunnel is a one way 160 metres long tunnel and as with all the canal there is a towing lane which effectively is a track beside the canal that used to be for the horses to pull the barges along the canal. It is important that when you do tie up to the bank that you do not have your ropes across the towing lane as you will trip up the odd runner and take a good number of people off their bikes via their handle bars.
