... of dog swimming - too cold for us but the boys are in heaven. Two days, three nights in Saintes Marie. A much needed rest so lots of beach walks and snoozing in the sun with a good book each and a pitchet of vin blanc. Tomorrow we head for Italy through Aix en Provence and along the coast towards Genoa. Will be very sorry to leave this little place but plan a celebratory farewell dinner of moules frites tonight. Finding Nimes

... bought a pass so that we could take our time and visit all of the attractions; the Arena, the Maison Carrée, the Jardins de la Fontaine and in Orange, a short drive away, a Roman amphitheatre.

Exploring the Arena took 3 hours. We ventured in to the centre of the Arena and tried to imagine the roar of a 24,000 strong crowd. We raised our arms and turned a circle to take in the (imagined) atmosphere. I thought the Arena was round but it is oval and ...

A wonderful little city, took the train in for our only day off this week. I had ready about the ancient Roman colosseum and all of the history that goes along with the city and had to go see it. First of Three Cities today...

... approached Porte de Peyrou. Opposite of this arch lays a garden, with an old aqueduct structure branching off of it. We examined these structures, then progressed into the old city.

We then walked straight through the middle of the downtown area. This allowed us to see a lot of the pretty buildings in the city and the quaint streets. We then grabbed some water and headed back to the hotel, in order to make the train around 1 PM to Avignon.
