And so, on into Greece - at last! More diddling about in last major town to go through: Bitola. Road signs lacking, again. However, eventually - after avoiding dirt-track route to historic monument (!) - manage to find right exit.
Have to say that entering through Macedonia does feel rather special. In awe of the amount of histories that have played out in this territory. What awful forces have swept this land! Strangely peaceful, now. And a lot cleaner, it has to be said ...

The beauty of the beautiful eastern coasts, sandy beaches, sunshine, vegetation, everything!

The driver got on board along with the conductor, the engine started, the doors were closing and suddenly about 20 Samothrakians turned up, ambling across to the bus without a care in the world, got on and then we departed up through the hills to Hora - brinksmanship or what! Hora is the traditional capital of Samothraki island. It is beautifully situated in a hanging valley on the side of Mount Fengari, - at 1611metres (5000+feet) the highest island ...

... off before pulling aside the boat reasured him that he was safe with me. After showing him how it was done...he asked me if I could show him how to drive. We switched places and I aided him in the controls and how to drive. After 10 minutes were were doing donuts and he didn't want to get off. First thing I recall about Limnos ? The hotel ! First time back to land after 5 days at sea, and first real shower - What a delight ! Capuccino and eggs and bacon at 4 am, back to civilization or so it seemed...! Nice old castle, nice little beach, great fish. A very friendly little island, not that touristy especially at that time of year.

After a night in the desert - that was no fun, we carved up the town of Wadi Rum.
