... ploy, built a wooden horse with some soldiers inside then departed. The Trojans towed the horse inside the city leading to the fall of the city. The beginnings of Mills and Boon?.... or maybe the start of the saying 'beware of Greeks bearing gifts' ?
My real interest was in Gallipoli and I could not wait to get there. Some of the events leading up to Turkeys involvement in WWI are quite amazing. The much weakened Ottomans ...
And so, on into Greece - at last! More diddling about in last major town to go through: Bitola. Road signs lacking, again. However, eventually - after avoiding dirt-track route to historic monument (!) - manage to find right exit.
Have to say that entering through Macedonia does feel rather special. In awe of the amount of histories that have played out in this territory. What awful forces have swept this land! Strangely peaceful, now. And a lot cleaner, it has to be said ...
A stroll in the coast
It is a rainy day today, with clouds in the sky, and every now and then I can see some raindrops here and there.
The weather is mild, - not windy at all, but in the distance I can see fog on the mountains and from time to time I see lightning and hear the thunder.
It is the ...
... are still indoors.
However we stop and ask a lady about the owner of the house, and we are told that the old lady has died some years ago. No wonder why we cannot spot the hoouse! The people who inherited it must have renovated it and this is the reason why we find it hard to spot.

Limnos, Greece bposmentierFirst thing I recall about Limnos ? The hotel ! First time back to land after 5 days at sea, and first real shower - What a delight ! Capuccino and eggs and bacon at 4 am, back to civilization or so it seemed...! Nice old castle, nice little beach, great fish. A very friendly little island, not that touristy especially at that time of year.
Limnos, Greece clemencepicolet... boys caught the shade, and when the sun went down we all hit the town. Then came the ferry - need we say more. 16 hours later we finaly hit the Jordanian shore. After a night in the desert - that was no fun, we carved up the town of Wadi Rum. Petra rocked, though by Damascus we were shocked - from gunshots, to wailing, to orange orchards - where some thought they ...
