... to the 12 apostles and they are impressive - I didn't really expect them to be. I could go into how they were formed but I think Ror took a pic of that so it explains it all - I should have been a geologist, I find these things so interesting. We hung around there for a while where you can view them from different platforms. After that we stopped at a gorge which has a beautiful sheltered beach. From there we stopped in Port ...
Apollo Bay, Victoria, Australia sharor... I was driving up a very steep and winding cliff face at the time, so I did not dare to stop the car and move him, lest another car come along and move me. I am now camped in the Otway National Park, at a campsite which is down a narrow road, along a dirt turnoff, through a gate, and along another long winding dirt road. It is marvelously solitary, and once again, the roar of the ocean can be heard in the distance.
Apollo Bay, Victoria, Australia wayfaring... less fit) walkers would catch up. I was often in the company of Leane, an lovely English lass, who was the back marker. Around half way to Cape Otway we met up with a local Mark. Mark the son of the last Light House Keeper has lived in the Otway for most of his life with only stints at other light houses eg. Gabo Island. Mark is an amazing character and a great story teller. As we walked along the rocks/beach ...
Cape Otway, Victoria, Australia ed.herweynen... is the coast road to the southwest of Melbourne, and is very picturesque along certain sections. The first couple of hours driving in order to reach the coast was pretty mundane, but as soon as we hit the coast at the town of Torquay, we saw some lovely views, it seemed to be after we turned every corner, there was another great view to be seen. It was a bit distracting as the person who was driving had ...
Apollo Bay, Victoria, Australia jon-daniella... pounding ocean. I think there are now 6. Naturally we jumped out and got the obligatory photos of them all. On past Port Campbell, and you enter Great Otway National Park. We had been recommended by quite a few people to go up to the Otway Fly, a tree top walk way, but we decided that since we did the same thing back in Western Australia, to give this one a miss. The carpark was rammed too. So we did something slightly more fun, and a ...

Apollo Bay, Australia sammmiles... bit to eat and ended up in a rather terrible but overpriced Italian. I ordered a rather nice Ham and mushroom pizza while Han had a pasta dish with allegedly didn't contain chilli, but had mouth numbing properties dentists only dream of. Half way through I was forced to swap and had to persevere through the running nose and tears of pain for my dinner. The next day held the kind of picture postcard views that the road is famous for as it hugs the cliff for many kilometres. This ...
Apollo Bay, Australia hanandvern... The sunset was spectacular and it was a magical place to be. Back at the hostel, The 13th Apostle, we had a Bar-B and headed to the pub. This is a great group of many cultures and languages and happy, adventurous people. Good fun!! In the morning we headed back to the 12 Apostles and the Loch Ard Gorge. It is hard to describe the wind that blew this morning as we stood on the edge of cliffs trying to get the right picture. I have ...

It is located right off Port Phillip Bay, and is a nice place to go if you want to be by the beach, but don't want to spend an hour on a train.

St. Kilda became quite popular with wealthy Victorians early in its founding due to the cool breezes off of Port Phillip Bay during the hot summer months. The area has a pretty ...
