Flower of Scotland

Fun trip to Murrayfield for Scotland v Fiji.....lots of happy Scottish faces after the win, boys in fancydress, stag parties galore, chuc-chucs ferrying folks home in the rain, great cocktails in an Italian Jazz bar and running to catch last train back home on a busy busy Saturday night train heading South.

Gone Golfin'

... However, what some of you may not know, is that a golf course is one of my favorite places in the world. The smoothness of the grass plains and the simplistic beauty of the rolling hills and fairways are something that have always been calming to me. My goal as an architect is also to design houses on a golf course. There is just something so surreal about acres of land in the middle of the city that are left for leisurely outdoor activity. Anyway, this golf course ...

Off to Bonnie Scotland

... Yacht Britannia was the decommissioned boat of the Royals..Diana and Charles honeymooned on it etc. It was a nice yacht, not as flashy as I thought the Royals would be but comfy and understated elegance. It took around an hour to wander through all the decks and resist the Westie fluffy dog in the gift shop before we were back on the bus to go to dinner by 5.55pm.<br> Dinner was at Malmaison, a 3 course meal of our choice. Dan and I ...

Edinburgh Fun

... the city. We checked out Grassmarket which is a cute shopping area on a sloping street below the ctiy. We went up to George Street and Princes Street to find a bank for BJ and we ran into Dan, Alex, and Marina. They told us about an outdoor store and BJ, of course, had to go inside and check out the guns...He's a larger, Canadian version of Dave Foran! After that, we split up, and Jane, Tomoyo, and Lau headed back to ...

Two (or one and a half) castles in one day

... Returning to the car (via some incredibly tempting whiskey and tartan shops...and I don't jest, the shopping in Edinburgh is pretty swish), we then punched in our next stop...Aberdeen, via Balmoral. After many detours due to blocked streets, which upset the satnav no end, as I was forced to ignore its repeated requests to u-turn, and coming face to face with a police car in full siren, we finally extricated ourselves from the ...

So this is what deep fried dog turd tastes like!

... our 30 minute intro tour quickly became 75 minutes. He kept telling us that he wouldn't be offended if any of us wanted to leave early to wander on our own, but none of us complained. It was a good overview tour with a nice touch of humour. The museum is very interesting because there is a lot of symbolism in its layout and artistic design. There was no time at the end to explore the museum on my own, but I didn't care because I wasn't feeling ...

Edinburgh with Scott n Timmy

... commend the founders on finding the perfect location for a castle...making it damn hard sneak attack. But apparently, 8 guys scaled the rocky walls and overtook it in some forgotten year. Edinburgh was nice, and so was that 9 hour overnight bus that nearly tipped over. I'll hopefully be back someday to visit the highlands...unfortunately not this year.
