Thanksgiving at Breck

10,000 feet, indoor living, and ESPN!

... ghostly after labor day weekend. Nic and I would like to throw a huge THANK YOU! out to Trish and Moe who have lent us their condo for a few days. We are very much enjoying it. It's a bit more roomier than the van, and has ESPN which has made Nic a very happy man.

We don't want to get used to being indoors, so we're pretty sure that we are going to leave this life of ...

First Full Day! Mt. Evans

... much everywhere else I’ve ever been! The mountain ranges are larger than life and makes me wonder how the hell it was all created. On the way to Mt. Evans we drove by a pretty cool drag strip, Bandemere Speedway, that was nestled in the mountainside. We took I-70 West to the Evergreen Parkway and up Hwy 103. Hwy 103 was pretty scary and I lost cell phone reception pretty quickly. It’s a 2 lane winding highway in the mountains and its very narrow ...

BOOK IT! The Vail Pass

... we parked our bikes and took shelter. Once it settled down we continued on our ride and shortly reached the Gore Creek Path.

This whole path rode us by beautifully gorgeous homes owned by the rich and famous...sadly we didn't have any celebrity sightings because that would have been fun! The path drops you off right in the Vail Village where we stopped for a ...

BOOK IT! A Delightful Dining Experience

We spent the rest of the afternoon/evening exploring the shops in the Vail Village-which is an adorable German architecture looking resort town. We had dinner at Up The Creek
which is more of an "up-scale" restaurant. It was a little harder to find as it was set off of the main road directly on the creek.

I'm not the most adventuresome eater, so there were limited items on the ...

Spring Skiing and Lots of Snow

This year we skied for two weeks and both spring skiing and some good snow. We skied Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, and Arapahoe Basin. One day Peter and Ron took the day off and went fly fishing with a guide in Silverthorne. It was cold and they caught one fish but they still had a good time. Mike and Laurie joined us for a couple of days which was great!

First night in Vail

We arrived in Vail at 12:00 am. Checked in and walked to the nearest bar which happens to be one of the most "happening" bars... (Garfinkels)... bar was packed, everyone was drunk already. Had a few beers and a shot of Absolute Ruby Red. Feeling no pain and headed to bed at 1:30 am. Great night, great weather, beautiful views! :)

Snowboarding at Beaver Creek

... most amazing beautiful Spa I had ever seen. Had a big bubble bath, then an 80 min. Swedish massage, then another bath, shower and blow dried our hair. Most amazing place ever seen. How blessed am I !!!

So Fast Passes the Time

... vacation time than some knitting? Well, yes, I know there's all this walking and biking and mountain climbing and rafting stuff the young would certainly be hard about; but, the occasional stroll outside is the extent of my desire on this particular trip. So, I bought a truly huge pair of knitting needles (about the size of a penny in diameter) and a skein of yarn with a pattern for a scarf which the directions promised could be finished in two hours. Needless to say, I didn't get the ...
