... and tourists. The view from the top showed us how big the city was and we were surprised to see quite a few high rise buildings in the distance. We spent the afternoon just walking around and are headed to the Plitvice Lakes National Park-I have heard that it is a beautiful part of Croatia and I am glad that we will get to stay the night at a campground just outside the park.

A relaxing morning

... asleep there instead. We spent the last of our currency on candy, since we were leaving Croatia and didn't want to exchange - exchanging is a rip-off, I absolutely refuse to do it.

The train was late, which seems to be very typical of Croatian trains. It was made even later by the fact that we had to go through border control and customs. We got a cool stamp in the process though. Sweet.

... Why do they have to drive spanking new Mercedes? It's a bad sign. Especially when the bookshops are so short of stock.

Where's the logic? The wages here aren't so high yet the taxi fares are just absurd. And the taxis are all spanking new top of the range Mercedes. I just don't understand what's going on.

No doubt a lot of these people are ...

Just keep walking, and maybe I find the hostel

... a long strip of walking past the restaurants and the bars, I am here today, in the day time and this is a fantasastic area. but the street was insanely long, I knew that the street I needed was one or two streets over, it was just a matter of finding the way to get there. After maybe 15 mintues there was a left turn and so I went in the direction, I looked up and there was a huge hill, not steep but long. and I had a decision to make turn back round and ...

Last Croatian stop

... with bus-loads of tourists! I'm glad I walked the wall before all these people arrived! I ran some errands and sent a package of things home, including sandals I would no longer be needing, and met up with Tom at the hostel around 2:30 pm. A German girl Katie had come with him from Sarajevo, so the three of us chatted and went out for a hot chocolate. We went to a pub for a beer, and then went to eat at a "Mexican restaurant" in ...

Split to Zagreb

... happy we decided to come this way. We caught our train at about 11:30, and had a little scare. The car with our assigned berth was missing. We went from car to car and no one would let us on, and the train was about to leave. Finally a kind man tracked down the Conductor and he found us a sleeping berth, I don't know where ours ended up. We had a berth with two beds, and ...

... Shane had earlier hoped to achieve - being hungry in Hungary!!! Ohhh, I know.... So yes, we were VERY hungry in Hungary and the first meal we had was Chinese, which possibly was the best tasting Chinese we had ever had - and cheap as chips! Or Chinese! Ok I will move on...we think we got stooged by the taxi driver of which there were warnings in the guide books but what is an authentic experience without the stooging!? The hostel we stayed at was a hippy ...

... pictures we look like in Transsiberian train, lol! The Italians from our parish were hosting at the Taize meeting in Milan last year, now they were being hosted. Me and Ola had a nice talk with one of them - Luca, so the journey had just flown. At 11 p.m. we had a prayer for the peace in the world. I know it may look like we weren`t doing too much apart from praying but it`s not true. The prayers in Taize meetings look ...
