... the beach to collect them as we did today. Similar to Mexico, though far less often and without the harassment, there are locals that walk by the beach beds selling food, hats, sunglasses and hair braiding.the vendors are very low key in their approach calling out softly as they walk by. For dinner, we opted to stay at the resort, this time heading to the Japanese restaurant, Yakuza. The restaurant is owned by. Portuguese celebrity chef, Olivier da Costa, ...

After heeding the suggestion of a British-born owner of a gift shop in Praia de Luz, yesterday we headed for the hills, or the Serra de Monchique to be precise in order to find the alternative Portugal. We started in light winds and put our gennaker up, only to be startled by a loud bang as the whole sail fell into the sea. A shackle had failed at the top of the mast. We struggled to get it back in board but of course the boys, Hugh and Dawson, decided to put it back up.

As the wind increased, we creamed along, reaching 10.6 knots ...

... night and late night chats and it was perfect start to our time in Portugal. The next day we ventured to the nearby lighthouse before a swim at the cove beach down the road. Arvo beers soon turned into night time cocktails which in turn changed to early morning dancing and sunrise pizzas before heading to bed around 630am. We rose around lunchtime for a feed and some bean bag chills before heading back to ...
