... gorgeous Hansel and Gretel fairytale styled houses and of course the alps in the surrounding distance. Despite being a 'city' there was a remarkable calm and it felt so safe and clean. You could hear birds chirping everywhere, there were lots of parks and green areas AND there was incredible shopping for clothes and handmade jewelry if you had the cash to splurge! I spent my time strolling around the town, cruising ...

Now, after a late night, most parents would plan for an easy day, or at least morning, but no, not ours. It was yet another early start and walk down the steep hill to the train station, destination Lucerne and Mount Pilatus.

But their trains are clean, efficient, fast and punctual, which is important if you want to get out of there without taking out a second mortgage to pay for your lunch. Switzerland is a nice place to travel through, but unless someone wants to start paying me twice what I earn now, I doubt I'll be back anytime soon. ...

... already when we've been too boisterous!! Dinner tonight was a classic...the head waiter stood at the top of our table, very erect with arms by his side, and shouted "enjoy your meal!" In such a way I was waiting for his heels to click followed by the salute! It was hilarious and a few of us had tears streaming down our faces we were laughing so much!

The two hour walking tour was great...all the local guides we've had have been fantastic ...
