... kayaking flew by and we finished up at an incredible beach that you can only access by boat. It was stunning and the freestanding rock formations littered around the coast were exemplified by the nature of this beach. It is a truly stunning coastline from start to finish. There is not a single bad point the whole way around. It is just beautiful. After a 30 minute swim on the beach it was time to head back. ... best 5 euros I have spent) and enjoyed the next 6 hours on the beach swimming and sleeping. The only downside is that the water was actually very very cold but the burning sun in the blue sky above more than made up for that. Dina was more than happy to jump into the crystal waters as she hadn't been for a swim in almost 4 weeks since we were in Croatia.

... had a really exciting sail from Sines to Lagos yesterday. Over 80 miles in just over 12 hours... We started in light winds and put our gennaker up, only to be startled by a loud bang as the whole sail fell into the sea. A shackle had failed at the top of the mast. We struggled to get it back in board but of course the boys, Hugh and Dawson, decided to put it back up.

As the wind increased, we creamed along, reaching 10.6 knots ...

... bad as the Spanish Costa de sole and it still had enough local charm away from the British holiday makers to retain a sense of itself. The coast line was pretty spectacular, with big sandstone cliffs slowly crumbling into the crystal clear water.
