Marsala Tita 125 Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina
... Dubvornik. The top of the castle offered amazing view of the surrounding contryside and of the towns. After the castle we went to the Dervish Monastery whose history dates back to the 15th century. It is famous for the source of the river Buna, which is located in a cave at the bottom of a steep cliff. Bata told us this is his favorite place to come to escape the stresses associated with living in a place as crazy as Mostar.

After 13 hours of some of hearing some of the ...
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina jesters09... you.

I just admire how Mostar's people go about their daily lives amidst all the ruins and rebuilding. People were partying last night when I arrived and this morning it was business as usual wherever I walked. I am sure that seeing the buildings in rubble day out numbs any shock factor.

I am pressing on later to more destinations unknown. I just know I need to be in Sofia, Bulgaria to catch a flight on the 29th and its an open road to get there.

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina atlpilot36... annoyed, there certainly isn't the same choices for tourists here (in accomadation) and perhaps many just come to see the bridge and leave...

The bridge!! I loved the old bridge!! though it was an absolute ***** to walk over! The middle of the bridge is 21m over the Neretva River and it is tradition that the locals hold a competition for the men of the town to dive off the bridge and are judged according to ...
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina travellingjen... any maps and no one knew where it was. When we arrived it was actually a little store that had a sign on it saying we should call if no one was there. That presented a problem as we had no phone. So we pulled out our computer and walked down to the water to see if we could get a wireless signal. It worked but for whatever reason Skype did not. Next we asked a lady at an information booth selling tours whether she ...
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina claraz8... It was sooo funny, we were trying not to laugh as he was getting reamed out. Needless to say, we all wake the next day in the only air conditioned place Ive been to in this HOT heat of eastern europe.

I get woken up to Dino asking if i want coffee and saying "Im still drunk"....Haha, oh dino. That ended my day and I took a bus to Sarajevo. ****, I hate buses, but for 11.50 KM, cant complain how it is. I cant wait to get back to countries where my pass is valid.
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina kciarnie... offered to take me there, free, and when we were there, he took me to the Tekija’s (a monastery of the Muslim Dervish sect) café and show me the right way to drink Bosnia coffee (no, it’s not as complicated as Japanese’s tea ceremony, but the coffee was really good). The Tekija, of course, is the main attraction of the town. I don’t know about it’s religious value, but its location is very pristine: next to a deep pond formed ...
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina chan_hc... Way up on the top of the mountain, only 1 km away I was told but you had to walk. You know me and physical exercise!!! Another car full of tourists drove up so I decided to follow. It took a little off the hike but I still had to go half way to the sun to get there! All the way up I kept telling myself "it better not be closed when I get up there or cost an arm and a leg to get in". Yes, it was open (can't really close it off ...
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina elaqidPOLSKI: Umowilismy sie z naszymi Francuzami, ze razem z nimi pojedziemy do Mostaru w Bosni i Herzegovinie, a nastepnie do Sarajewa. Ruszylismy o 9:30, a pol godziny pozniej przekroczylismy granice Bosni. Najedlismy ...
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina bogna... waterfalls tunneling down steps, via ponds full of lily pads, and via yellow, green, seaweedy land that was porous and leaked showers above caves. Hiking, I saw one lake way above the others, in dense wilderness, and that one looked the most beautiful. Continuing onwards, I traveled southeast through turquoise-tinted Croatia. The small road kept going slowly up mountain passes, then coming down, giving broad vistas of flat land stretching past snow-blocking ...
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina modernoddyseus... there, it seemed to be some sort of presidential visit, as Bosnia has 3 of them, and there was a ceremonial meeting on the bridge. Then 3 dudes jumped the 20 meters (60 feet folks) into the freezing water. Then we continued on our way back to Belgrade. (C) The presidential visit was pretty cool. Not sure which presidents it was though. It's funny that we ...
