... here in Croatia is like a weird social experiment--locking up 40 college students in a hotel in Croatia... yesterday we finally left the resort complex and went into the town of Pula. It's a 40 minute walk or a 15 minute bus ride. I walked there and bussed back. It was a cool town, but kind of annoying to get to. It reminds me of Algeria. There's quite a few roman ruins around, which is really neat. And the main part of the ...

Aarau, Aargau, Switzerland beaandroger... center with all the
shopping stores and grabbed a quick snack for lunch. I then headed
across a canal to a small walking street where they had lots of cool
stores and restaurants. From there I headed up a hill and found myself
at the local university. I walked around the campus for a while and
checked things out. For here I headed down the hill in a different
direction and found myself in a nice little park. It was ...
Just a day trip to see this old city. Lots of brightly painted buildings with ornate oriel windows. Most of the windows were carved with scenes or fancy designs, sometimes painted, sometimes both. Lots of fountains and statues. Found a chocolate shop and pigged out.
Schaffhausen, Schaffhausen, Switzerland danandroz... district and it was even nicer. When I was in the luxury shopping district in Munich it was a bland wide street with shops on each side. I didn't really think anything much of it but the Zurich one is smaller, less cars and more people. It just had a better overall feel. Not that I could afford to shop in those stores but it is always interesting to see the people from each city shopping in those stores. That night we cooked our dinner ...
Zürich, Switzerland jacobaOuch! Sore calves, muscles, toes . . . So I'm back on the train after my all-too-short trip into the Alps. I'm resting my weary legs after doing far more skiing than I have done since my 30s. I was just inspired to keep going. I did, afterall, come 6,000 miles to do this. And to think, I was almost tempted to not bring my ski boots and to just stay in Zurich. Mistake! And I have Paul to owe for this. He's the one who usually gets me to do the things that I'm ...
Zurich, Switzerland sinfronteras... This is difficult enough to understand in English and the German explanation was too high level for me to understand. The instructor could not explain this in English because two of my classmates are Japanese and speak very little English, but decent German. After about 15 minutes of listening, I zoned out - I'll pick it up somewhere else. After about a half an hour of trying to explain past tense verbs in German, the instructor said, "I didn't mean to ...
Zurich, Switzerland rlp5321At 7:30 am we went to the airport with Scott and Mo to say goodbye to them before their return flight to the US. We went up with them as far as the Continental check-in line, then we all hugged and said our goodbyes. Back home again we made plans with Nancy and her family (who by now had arrived in Zürich to join her for the weekend) to go to the Technorama Museum in ...
