... day and the first day I've worn thongs since Bruges!!!!
Walked to the beach and waded in the water but too cold to go swimming.
Went to Fife for dinner which was recommended by Peter from the hostel and also the barman on Friday night as the best place in town to get good local food at local prices.
Had an awesome meal of Sarma (mince wrapped in cabbage leaves) and Fozol - bean and ham dish.

We got settled in just in time for sunset, took some pretty pictures from our lanai, and then went to the market down the street for groceries. We cooked a good dinner ...

Then, we played a board game and had lunch, followed by going for a swim in the ocean and relaxing on the rocks. We are about to catch the ferry from our campsite into the small town of Trogir; we can ...

... side of the palace, closest to the sea front. As many as 9,000 people, including soldiers and slaves from conquered lands, once lived inside the palace, and during the Middle Ages, noble families and wealthy merchants built their homes there. Many descendents of those early inhabitants continue to live inside the palace.

Immediately outside the Peristil, you arrive at the main Roman east-west street, the Decumanus, now called Kresimirova. This street splits the ...

Hello from Croatia

... and when she recorded an album in Germany. She also talked about the days of when she met Tito's wife, and partied with him and his girlfriend. We became instant friends and the ferry ride to Korcula flew by. As we got closer to Korcula, some of the locals started coming by to say hello to Ruth, as well an archaeologist from the US who owns two homes in Korcula. Ruth explained that she had a guest room in her home, but seeing as she was just getting there for the first time that ...

The countries formerly known as Yugoslavia 1

... area it has a complicated history - the town was ruled by the Venetian Republic (along with almost all of the Dalmatian coast), from around 1400AD to nearly 1800AD, then became part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until Italy annexed it after WW1, then became part of Yugoslavia after WW2, and finally an independent Republic in 1991. Diocletian's Palace is amazing - there are shops, arcades, churches, mausoleums, markets, apartments, etc within the original walls. The pavements are made ...
