... and a public holiday. We wandered the bare streets and took photos of the typical political buildings, many churches and landmarks, including (another) ancient Roman arch. From there we headed on up the 800 steps to the castle overlooking the bay. 'twas arduously long and exhausting, however a daily occurrence for some people who's housing is accessible along some of this path. Nearing the top we approached a ledge to take advantage of a good photo opportunity ...
Long drives along Dalmatian Coast
... rain.
The next day we spent enjoying the town, walking around and taking it all in.
In the morning we have a travel day that will leave us gasping, starting with a 7 AM ferry back to Venice, a train to Manarola in the Cinque Terra. The trip will take us about 12 hours by the time we check-in again.
We really enjoyed Slovenia and Croatia, both beautiful countries with great towns and would go back to either.

Ice hockey
we stoped in Pula to say hello to Marco (old business partner of Dide) and it turned out that there was an international hockey tournament taking place in the collesiem (almost 2000 years old) between Croatia and Russia - what a treat.
Finally, made our way down to Metcovic, just in time for one day of sun on the beach, before the rain - forcast for the next couple of days.
More to follow as i need to sign off now as we need to get the car back to Metcovic.

Lakes and the seaside
... firmer we reached the top. The scene that lay below us made the climb worth climbing. The sea was a rich blue against the skies light blue backdrop and the white, candy floss clouds floated above. The castle was small on the castle scale, but impressive sitting on the side of a cliff. Some pirate ship like cannons sat remembering all the gun powder in their glory days. We climbed the stairway circling upwards between the round, grey stone walls of the turret ...
High speed ferry to this beautiful town
... so began our love affair with this lovely town.
In the morning I sent an email off to the ferry company telling them of my loss and asking if a camera had been found to let me know. When we got to Ljubjlana, I read their reply: yes it was there waiting to picked up! I still will pick up a camera for this part of our trip and retrieve my camera on our return to Rovinj.
