... out. We didn't know the the festival was on and had already eaten lunch so we were unable to sample the wares but we did have a drink. We also stumbled on a mobile deli with an array of cheeses and meats. This is the first time we have seen one of these but it is certainly a good idea. If trade is slow just close up and drive to new spot.

... and I couldn't stop taking pictures. We meandered through the city along the canals for a few hours. There was no aim to our wandering and we ended up a bit disoriented by dusk. (The sun doesn't go down until 10:30 here!) As soon as we found the hotel again we practically ran to our rooms to go to bed in order to have enough energy to explore Amsterdam tomorrow!

... huge scale model of the city, including proposed buildings, to make sure the new ones fit in with the old. In fact they are in the midst of pulling down buildings from the 50s when the mayor was keen to tear down old buildings and build modern ones. In the place of these "modern" buildings are being build new "old" buildings in keeping with those around them.

The hotel has an interesting bed setup. Two singles put together with single duvets folded sideways ...
