We left Placenzia at 3:00 am for the drive to Malpensa airport in Milan. I do not believe our Italian driver spoke English but Davida apparently gave him excellent instructions. The airport is somewhat rundown looking compared to others we have visited but our Easy Jet plane left on time and made good time to Split.

Day 25 - Saturday, June 6, 2015 - Around Ancona and Overnight Ferry to Split, Croatia



Well, it has finally arrived – our last day in Italy. We had a leisurely morning as we waited to check out of our B&B and then to "kill" about seven hours. We knew that we could leave our luggage at the Ancona Ferry Terminal – so we headed downhill to the terminal and deposited it. Then what to do??

After two wonderful weeks of sailing/motoring with The Crew, we found a spot in Stobrec, just south of the city, to wash, clean and prepare for the next adventure. All done ..... for now.

The old city of Split is splendid. Ancient ruins carefully restored by UNESCO, interesting local tour guide, Green Markets, Fish Markets, ...

... time I went near the bar, my wifi connected in again. I thought the last tender back to the ship was at 12 so got there around 11.30. Have just read it again, and 2am was the last tender to Mykonos. I could have stayed out until 2am! And if I had realised that I might have. I got a bit lost around 11.15, and was getting worried about finding where I had to catch the tender in the dark. The nightclubs were all just starting to boom, so what a night I could have had!

... and valuables back across on the dingy. The restaurant owner told me ‘Oh he is swimming back? Then you and I will go to Italy instead!’ I was fairly certain that dingy wouldn’t get too far in open water, so I got in anyway… and luckily he did just deliver me back to the sail boat.

We sailed again with both sails billowing, around the islands catching some colour from the sun and talking more to Marin about Croatian ...
