... shopping center as everything is so perfectly old. The sidewalks are shiny white rocks. We get to an agora where everyone sits on the steps, service to the steps included, with a live singer/musician. We think to ourselves we should have had dinner in the palace! We visit the emperor's cellar now converted in tourist shops that sell the same stuff as everywhere we have been. We come back quite exhausted to our apartment, in the craziness of the locals who celebrate their local soccer team win.

He fiercely persecuted Christians and was responsible ...

... We decided that we would walk the very short distance to the old town square - and to Diocletian's Palace, to climb the bell tower. The stairs were absolutely hideous, with the distance between each step being roughly the height from the ground to my knee, and were stone and slippery, and just plain awful! We were very grateful to have made it to the first floor for a break, but it was at this point I discovered it was very windy up there...as my dress managed to ...

Split and not a Cravat in sight

... br> Whilst we have both been to Croatia before, Roisin and I to Dubrovnik and me to Osijek when I worked in Hungary, Split is a first for both of us.

Split is the second-largest city of Croatia after Zagreb and the largest city of the region of Dalmatia. It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea and dates back to the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Not one of Rome’s more famous Emperors, granted, but was a dab-hand at building palaces!
