... market, but we only had one night there, barely enough time to enjoy the atmosphere. Compared to other markets and such, we found shopping was better in Innsbruck compared to Munich. Swarovski crystal originated here and so that was also a big shopping draw. Their most recent orb for Christmas is exquisite!
While in Munich, I took a side trip without Jon to Salzburg, Austria. I've always wanted to visit Salzburg ever since I saw the "Sound of Music". Our ...

... just a market but also decorations. There us an alleyway that has all the story book characters up on the second story balconies and windows. Little Red Ridinghood, Pinocchio, mother Goose, etc. Parents bring their kids and it is fun to watch the kids identify the characters.

Innsbruck is a very old and beautiful city. It is small, 130,000 and sits between two mountain ranges in a narrow valley. We did see skiers but the lifts don't operate ...

We drove from Lindau to Innsbruck. It is about a 2 hour drive without stops on mostly 4 lane road and good highways. We already had out Austrian Road sticker. We got that when we went to Lichtenstein.

Driving through the Alps is not like driving through the mountains in western Canada. The Germans and Austrians don't believe in going around a mountain if you can go through it. We figure 1/4 of our trip was in tunnels!

      ... lights.
Finally about 2km and about 600m higher its a real twisty game working out
just where to go up here between all the roadwork's and the cones. It sure was
confusing but right there ahead of me was a toll booth. This is the ticket off
ice for the mighty tunnel which lays ahead.
Pay my ten Euro and off I go. As I enter the tunnel I'm hoping it warms up
a bit inside here as its only 8 Celsius outside and sure feels rather
      chilly.
      Sure ...

... figured out that we were supposed to get off at a stop that was about an hour or so back, in the middle of the route. We waited around for not too long, and ended up having the same bus driver on his route back to where we originally got on. This time, he made sure we were at the correct stop before getting off the bus. :) We waited for a while, and finally got the correct bus to take us to Feichten, where our hostel was. It is the city ...
