... We walked down the Weissgepbergasse (with the oldest remaining buildings in the city), we passed the former home of painter Albrecht Durer, we drank some Mokarabia, climbed the castle, found a traditional Bavarian coat for Pam, and then, since Germany is full of Turkish immigrants, I finally had some Turkish street food. After shooting off an email to some extended family in Frankfurt with some initial plans ...
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany the_stamms... remove it from the mold and lay a portion on a flat surface (to produce the flat side to sit in on a table), let it harden (which doesn’t take much time, then add the handle. In this case, the handle was red glass, which is the hardest to work with because it takes the highest temperature to keep it soft. Once one side of the handle is attached to the base, they have to reheat the red glass to re-soften it for molding. Once it is soft enough to mold, they use a metal bar to shape ...
Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany ab10Had to get up early in order to catch the 8:30 tour of Bamberg. Buses took us into town for our walking tour. One of the special places to see was the old Town Hall which is in the middle of the bridge between the two sides of the city. Originally one side was the Prince/Bishops and the other the common people and they shared the town hall. It is painted in elaborate Baroque style. The town was established in 1007 and the buildings were of half-timber construction ...
Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany tucsonjohn... and took buses to Nuremberg. We visited the Zeppelin Field where the big Nazi Rallies were held and the Hall of Justice where the Nuremberg Trials took place. Bought a souvenir pin at Market Square and had cokes at a bistro while waiting for the bus to take us back to the ship.
... did go to all had pretty good beer, were all in old traditional Bavarian buildings and were more like beer halls. That night we rode back and I had my wonderful new bike that had a light - true happiness. When we rode up to the hostel, the chef ran outside straight for us. It was somewhat understood that the chef was the owner of the hostel and he was a pretty sarcastic guy, so when he came up to me and said "That's my bike", I took ...
Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany unbound... sadly…I lost a flipflop….poor flip flop! I loved those comfy flippyfloppys and gone forever!
Well once we got to Nuremburg it was all about the hockey game! A little backstory…Chris spent a year playing NHL09 (Playstation) online with his friend Danny. At first they changed their jerseys quite often but they eventually stuck with the Sinupret Icetigers (due to the lime green ...
... The cheering was intense and we could hear it all from the campsite…pretty fun! The campsite was very nice except for the fact that it was surrounded by acorn trees and we were constantly in fear of our lives! Lol…well just getting a bump on the head! We did get a few nice donks on the camper but it survived. One thing we did notice…no squirrels…very odd!
We explored the ...
... about Jazz band and other fun things about Kzoo and Europe. For me, it is always a blast to have visitors, especially since I don’t have too many friends around here.
We all pack our bags and head to the train station to go south to Erlangen (yes, for the second time!) The train trip is so much easier this time because the trains are not striking anymore, and we arrive there in a few hours. Once in Erlangen we bid adieu and I go off ...
Some more fotos for you... Short on time to write much... Spent the weekend enjoying the market day on Saturday, attended the Lutheranische Kirche on Sonntag, then drove with a friend up into the Frankische Schweiz (nearby hills)! I would say Italian hill-towns are nice, but German hill-towns serve better Bier! -Phil
Erlangen, Germany pfitech... the main pedestrian drag into the Berg, but it wasn't quite as full or as frenzied as Thursday was, as a result of the World Cup game preventing an earlier start. That said, I had some beers (duh), food, and stood on the tables singing those songs that I knew. The Berg closes at 11:00, so it was off to a couple of bars until 3:00 a.m. or so. Per usual, everyone was gracious to me and curious about how I found this place and ...
