... were used during the civil war. We were told about this place from a local who is originally from Wisconsin. She fell in love with Barcelona and decided to move here and open up her own bar (I can see how easy it is to fall in love with this city). We appreciate tips from locals so much, as it only expands and enriches our experience of the city.

We learnt a very important lesson today about travelling in Barcelona. ALWAYS book your entry tickets online in advance. We have spent a lot if time in queues - it was all worth it and we have seen some amazing sights. First up was the Palau de la Musica Catalana. It is a beautiful old building with a lot of mosaics. Today is May Day here - there was a huge parade through the middle of town. There must have been ...

... understated, you even have to step over the door frame to get inside. But inside it is ridiculous! For one thing, that small door did not prepare me for the hugeness inside—it’s cavernous, with stone pillars and vaulted arches, and an amazing amount of light (especially since it’s after dark by now!). It’s beautiful, breathtaking even. I read later that the style is early Catalan Gothic, and perfectly symmetrical throughout. After finally ...
