Terrazas de la Torre, Balsicas, Murcia, Spain dchodgins... one restaurant (again, very proud because it only served Spanish food) and half of them thought that 9 Euros was expensive for an appetizer, an entree, dessert and a drink. So they ended up trying to apologize and explain to the waiter that they couldnīt afford it. It was a great learning experience. FYI- I paid 15E for my lunch today in Segovia. The students felt bad for leaving...I tried to tell them that they will ...
Madrid, Spain mrs.loomis... have been on the shelves for decades, maybe centuries! Consuelo, the owner with her husband, and I have quite a chat. She is very unhappy with Spainīs president Zapatero. He isnīt helping the people to a better economy, only putting money into the pockets of the already-rich. There are a few rich at the top and mostly poor. Sound familiar? (We see an inordinate number of old stone homes and ...
Melide to Arzúa, Spain sueschubert... lost...but we werenīt and we arrived at our accommodation OK - though so much for the promo tagline "only 5minutes from the city!" Seville (and what seems most of Spain) is quite busy at the moment primarily due to Easter and their subsequent Catholic celebrations; Seville proved quite difficult to get accommodation even though we were there the week before Easter and prices were inflated above normal rake rates...but we had a roof over our heads, a kitchenette, air-conditioning ...
Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands kim.donaldson... remain a cheap airline but with allocated seats - which is great news. We decided to do a couple of 'tasters' of the new routes with two night city breaks - Riga comes next, but first we went to Madrid. The flight leaves EMA at the reasonable time of 8.40am and lands in Madrid at approximately mid-day their time. We had pre-booked seats with an Aerocity minibus for the 20 minute journey into Madrid but unfortunately they couldn't produce a vehicle ...
Madrid, Spain elaine.dean... he missed the break and skidded across the gravel, stones flying in all directions, spraying over his laughing audience. Petrified Pedro once again slowed to a crawl. Slower was safer was his motto. Staying off the accelerator Pedro saved himself from further pain of crashing, but not the pain of humiliation he endured as two little girls, who still needed stabilizers on their bicycles, lapped him.
Playa del Ingles, Spain pdollo21... I took a picture of the Don Quijote and Sancho statue. My professor who taught a Cervantes class that I took would have been proud. Actually, that professor was really helpful. I e-mailed him about a week before going to Spain, asking if he had advice of which cities I should see. I sent me a list, the address to the Cordoba program in Granada, and told me to e-mail him if I had any other questions. It was great. I finally ...
Madrid, Spain fminonne... passed with no problems. In fact, all of the graduates who passed the written exams also passed the orals. I also started selling my books and giving my notes to upcoming students. KC got a thick packet of notes. He's the next student working on Poetry, so I handed on the notes I had gotten a couple of years ago from Jason along with additions of my own. (Each student has to take comprehensive written exams based on a General List and a Specialty List. The choices are Novels ...
Madrid, Spain harrellrl... great way to start of my week in Spain. That night we went out to some bars and clubs and got a taste of the Barcelona night...awesome night. From there Dan and I headed to Madrid, only about a five hour train ride. Madrid was pretty neat a lot chiller then Barcelona. We walked all over Madrid visiting all the main plazas and cathedrals..etc. We also went to the Museum del Prado, one of the most famous museums in Spain ...
Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Spain mawaj214... ups). From what I've read in different forums, that should be enough for my journey as long as I'm disciplined with my budget (meaning sleeping in cheap hostels and forgetting about restaurants, night clubs, expensive events, etc). I wouldn't mind to work occasionally for few months somewhere mid-trip if my funds wear thin too fast, but I wouldn't like to miss part of the fun because of the economic matter. - Two remaining points to sort out: I still got two main points I'm ...
