      ... pretty small town that bustles in the summer as people flock to the beaches here.

      As we were wandering the streets and trying to get ourselves oriented to the town we stopped into the Igrejada Mesericordia – the church of mercy- one of the few buildings that remained standing after the huge earthquake in the 1700’s. We met a young woman in her late 20’s who was a guide for the church.

      ... where we are "hurricane hole" so we are very well protected. We have got no neighbours just birds (storks and herons) and shellfish around us and it is extremely quiet. So quiet that it is almost strange! From time to time we walk to the village of Culatra which is a 25 minutes walk on the beach when the tide is low. It is a lovely village where there are no cars and no roads and just sand everywhere. Culatra island is basically a long sand bank which is 5.9 Kms ...

      ... to Olhão, and went straight to the supermarket as we had all planned to cook a BBQ at our home stay tonight. We were all looking forward to not eating out for a change!
