... lots of bobbing boats in the harbour and thousands of people!!!! Today it was very hot again, 32 - 33 degrees with this heat wave. A friend who's in France said they had been experiencing 40 degrees. Ugh. This little town was alive and humming with people. There was a big stage set up for a concert that night. We came to a little beach and just stared in wonder. Every square centimetre of sand was taken up with a beach towel and an ...

We joined them, and after seeing the long list of items on the tapas menu decided to order up a few as dinner. It was such a Spanish thing to do, sipping sangria and nibbling tapas in the streets of old Girona. On the way back to the bus I picked up a decadent chocolate gelato cone, and that was the end of our day.

This was our last day of serious climbing and we have now dipped wheels and deposited Atlantic stones in the Meditarranean. It was a gorgeous day, and we set off as a group of five, Peter, who is feeling much better, Lori, Steve, Gilles and I. The major climb took us to the Col de Palomere at 1036 m. Thankfully it was not a steep climb - I would guess between 5 and 7%, which is a good thing because I could barely manage that. I had done my math and was convinced that I had another ...
