Early start, Stansted crowded - possibly made worse by the French air traffic controllers strike yesterday. ... atmosphere. After checking into our hotel we walked the streets and investigated this picturesque spot. Dinner was at a gorgeous place called Le Tremail where we tried some escargot (snails) and seafood. To our surprise, the kids loved the snails and asked for more after trying them. Great stuff kids! ... gorgeous stone building about 900 years old. This time it's simplicity was stark but beautiful.

Back in the car we had a 2 hour drive which was an easy drive on the motor way. We arrived at Girona in Spain but had a little trouble finding the hotel as it wasn't listed on the GPS. Eventually we did and parked the car after driving around the roundabout about 3 times.

... AVE high speed train. It goes 300 km an hour and get you there in 90 minutes. It was so fun that we did an AVE-inspired day trip to Cordoba. That was three AVE hours -- but it was a lovely way to see a place we might have otherwise missed. We also had an interesting outing to the closest wine district in Requena, courtesy of our friend (and Henry's art teacher) Jenni.
