    ... some consultations. I definitely had a good time in Gynecology, and witnessing the C. Sections definitely helped confirm my decision to become a doctor. Though I missed shadowing, I knew I couldn't miss my final opportunity to teach in Base5, so at about 12:30, I dressed myself up and ran over to the hospital--for what would ultimately be my last time.     Gynecology

    ... born babies, so my day was pretty much made on the unit. That being said, I really don't think gynecology is for me; the fact of the matter is that this specialty requires a lot of work with labor and pregnancy, and I don't know if I want to put myself in the position of seeing a pregnancy or labor go wrong. I do respect the specialty a lot, and understand how important it is, but I think my interests lie elsewhere.

    ... so when he/she tries to translate for the physician, certain ideas get lost. I realized this week that by becoming a doctor, I am taking on a much bigger responsibility than most people can handle: to understand my patients and communicate to them the way they can understand. Hopefully my French and Spanish come in handy to this end, but regardless, there is a way to speak to patients, and as a doctor, I will need to master this communication.

    ... close that any misplaced steps would have killed us--which gave us the birds-eye view of the entire canyon and mountain range. It felt like we were in Heaven or on Mount Olympus or something. The hike was scheduled to last about 2.5-3 hours, but apparently we were running later than normal, so the bus had to come pick us up about halfway through.
