... preparing the head sail under power. It started quite nice at midday with the full main beam reaching out of the bay then just before I had the angle to pass the cape, heavy swells with strong gust made me hold action. Having out the outboard inside, the main was not enough to power us through these big breaking waves. Then I remembered all the basics again, little small simple things makes high difference at ...

... backed right onto the fence in our backyard. One of the morning, all the cows in the field came up to our fence, and I nearly got to touch one. Almost all of the cows we saw in Asturias wore cowbells, just like the cows in Switzerland do. The only cows that didn’t wear cowbells were quite small, so a lot of calves and young cows didn’t wear them.

One of the days we were near Arriondas, we drove to a small train station in ...

Pretty impressive, although inevitably there is always some spillage - which our Irishman wasn't too impressed with! ... where we are
headed (which would mean a long passage)

The coastline is amazing when you can
see it. It has changed quite significantly since leaving the Picos
behind – rolling green valleys, sheer cliff faces of limestone and
wonderful wooded mountains in the background.

We got to the harbour, which is full of
small craft and fishing boats and the moorings are onto buoys where
you tie on fore and aft. ...

    A very pleasant surprise

We spent a few days in Gijon which was a very interesting town, with a wonderful atmosphere and great cultural activities. We just happened to be there whilst a cultural festival was going on. Each evening there was a concert by the marina, which displayed the various styles of music of the (Asturian) region.

The town itself was fairly modern, with a few hidden gems.

    A most pleasant stay.
