... Sunday Reese and I ventured up to a new Hutte that is about 1000 vertical meters above our house. I think the opportunity to hike from the house is also truly unique where on average you can be in high alpine (above 1500 m) within 1 hour of hard uphill hiking. We shared a coke and sprite on the deck of the Hutte with the sun setting in the background. It was very Austrian...I also like the fact that she can climb as quickly as me and so the exploration potential is increasing every week!

... for a walking tour of a very pretty Innsbruck (our hotel is in the center of town). While we obviously enjoyed the sights of Italy, it was great to be in the mountains again and see Bavarian (in this case Tyrolean) architecture.

We took a cable car one third of the way to the top of surrounding mountains. Tried to catch the gondola to the top but ...

... Theo, said "what are those - you are supposed to have a snack box like everyone else." I had plastic baggies and everyone else had the big lunch boxes. We have recess at different times, there are no bells. And "math" is called "maths".

... sweet tooth, of course we all kept him company. On our return to Oberstaufen we detoured to the Wieskirche (white church) which is a UNESCO world heritage site. It was built in 1730 ten years after a farmer witnessed a statue oh Christ weeping. Millions of people each year make a pilgrimage to this beautiful and highly decorated Catholic Church. The dome ceiling is painted in pastel tones with murals of Christ's resurrection, the walls are white but with plenty of gilded ...

... Celeste and Peter shared a tasting platter with a bit of everything on their menu! The serves were huge! See the photos! I thought I would try an Austrian speciality for dessert. I can't remember it's proper name but it's a soufflé. What they fail to tell you and the menu doesn't explain either, that it's "HUGE" and is supposed to be shared between 5 or 6 people. Everyone had a taste and we had to leave about a third of it. ...
