Droga do Samkow 29 Zakopane, Southern Poland, Poland, 34-500, 018-20-117-34
The Tatra Mountains are the natural border between Poland and Slovakia, and there has always been this question of which part is more beautiful. The secret is as follows: they are too different to compare. The Polish part is full of people, noise, activities, shops and festivals. The Slovakian part is quiet, peaceful and almost virgin-like, despite its well-developed infrastructure. It's simply because it's much ...
Tatranska Lomnica, Presov, Slovakia translucent... Great atmosphere. While here, we took a Gondola to the top of one of the mountains and hiked down. When we were at the top we did a bobsled type of ride down part of the mountain. Pretty fun but Brian was upset the woman in front of him was going too slow. I think it was a good thing or he may have gone right over the edge. We enjoyed the sunset and a beer at the top before our hike down. Didn't take long but still hard.
The next day we wanted to try this river ...
... you to wait for your group on a lower level if you suffer from a fear of heights.
On the levels of the castle you will find some traditional tools used by people of Orava in the past, as well as paintings, musical instruments, weapons, furniture, clothes and animals that used to live here. Some of the towers and terraces of the castles are available for the tourists, and it's advisable to stick to your ...
Now, you have to realise that Bukowina Tatrzańska is a perfect place if you want to spend a few days hiking in the mountains. It lacks the absurd amount of tourists and 'tourists' of the city of Zakopane, and it lacks its traffic, pollution and noise. Instead, it offers really breathtaking views over the Tatra Mountains, the delicious local cuisine and the folklore nowhere to be found any longer.
The biggest advantage of ...
... My trip then took me to northern Ukraine in a small community near Rivne. I spent a total of 5 or 6 days with my friend Dima and his family. He has a beautiful little girl. They were very nice and treated me to a week of "Ukrainian life". I experienced every from the soup to Salo. For you wondering, Salo is Pork's fat with salt. You normally eat it on a piece of bread with a bit of garlic. I would have loved to stay longer. I did cancel my trip to Odesa. It simply did not ...
Zakopane, Southern Poland, Poland cleblanc00... It felt as if it took a good 2 hours to hike up this steep incline, with the air getting thinner and an innumerable amount steps, I was taking a stop to breath every 25meters. Once I reached the top, the plain was flat for 50 meters an continued with more gradual inclines, ones less as dramatic as this I had just conquered. Still making forward momentum, the fog cleared up here and provided breath taking views of these summits - I was well over 2,000 meters above ...
Stary Smokovec, Slovakia jaywehrsFrom Prague we headed through Slovakia and into the Eastern Alps again - amazing country. Passing more fields of corn and sunflowers on the way (these fields have lined the motorways the whole way). The Slovakian landscape is still dotted with antiquated communist industry - a country still recovering... Zakopane is an amazing Mountain Town on the border, now a popular ski resort for the Poles. Quaint and amazing - makes us want to go skiing again!!!!
Zakopane, Poland hazieandleavo... the fog lifted and it was nothing but sunshine and blue skies for the rest of the day.. We managed to reach the peak of 4 different mountains, two Polish and two Slovakian, before calling it a day. There were points where the hike was really more of a climb, and we had to use these long chains bolted into the rocks to help pull ourselves up the rocky face.. It was an unbelievable experience. The second day I set out looking to hire a bike, but ...
Zakopane, Poland b-sideAuschwits on Thanksgiving. Brings a whole new meaning on what to be thankful for. It's impossible for anyone to really understand what happend until your 6 inches away from a literal ton of human hair, piles of baby clothing, or actually standing inside the original gas chamber where over 15,000 people were systimatically killed and then had ...
Oswiecim, Poland bodymodDzien dobry!!!! Hello everyone. The polish prince has finally made it to the homeland hahahah. My mother is from Zakopane. This is where i have been for the past few days. It is unbelievable here. I was here when i was 10 years old but that is far too young to appreciate the scenery. The city is in the middle of a mountain range. It is such a escape from London, England or civilization in general. I will post pictures on this site so that you can see for yourself. My cousin Robert ...
